Rafa has won the following European trophies:

UEFA Cup with Valencia in 2004
Champions League with Liverpool in 2005
Europa League with Chelsea in 2013

Sir Alex has won following European trophies:

European Cup Winners' Cup with Aberdeen in 1983
European Cup Winners' Cup with United in 1991
Champions League with United in 1999
Champions League with United in 2008

Think Sir Alex also won the European Super Cup in 83 and 91, but even without throwing those in, by my maths I make the score Rafa 3-4 Fergie.

Fergie wins super cups 2 - 1 anyway.

But Rafa has such a brilliant CV!

I mean, he's won two league titles.

Two I tell you, this beats Fergusons 14 any day of the week, isn't this obvious?

Think that should be 16 titles for Sir Alex. 13 in England, 3 in Scotland.

  7. Your missing a key point that means the bit in red doesn't count <doh>

Fergie's trophy haul is still better mind (me siding with the enemy again, queue Sisu moaning at me off again)

Even then Sisu is wrong. Three is not greater than three, no matter how many bottles of mouthwash you drink <ok>

Besides which, if we're allowing such selective comparisons then SAF has won more European trophies than all trophies Rafa has won at Liverpool and Chelsea.

But then we don't need such comparisons when SAF has won more league titles than Rafa has won trophies. Ever. As player and as manager <ok>

  9. Liverpool, Chelsea AND Valencia <ok>

PS...nice of you to cut the other bit of my response off, you know, the bit where I said Fergie's record is still better <whistle>

Re the OP, I think it is a shame that SAF and united didn't do better. The potential was there. Yes, the foreign player rule counted against us and we have had some bad luck. But I think we should still have done better.

Having said that, since we are at the "put your medals on the table" time, which English and European managers have won more European medals than SAF? He has beaten off Rafa. Has Jose beaten him? Not sure any of the miserable scousers have beaten him?

Couldnt give a **** to be fair. Any **** club can win a european trophy, Liverpool, Chelsea, Porto and Inter Milan proved that. Luck is the biggest factor in winning a european cup.

the league however, thats where clubs create history and legend.

I guess great clubs win it... 3 times? <doh>

    Our records speak for themselves.

You haven't won the most league titles. You haven't won the most EC/CL titles, that's Real. FA Cups? No......Oh League Cups, congrats.

I was referring to you last win, Chelseas only win and Portos last win.

I think we can all agree the 3 above sides were nowhere near the best in europe, infact you could argue they were **** in relative terms.

So I stick by my post, any **** club can win a european trophy.

I cant understand why Liverpool fans slag off chelseas 'history'. Chelseas history is at least as good as liverpools now and over the last 20 years and the modern game it is embarassingly better. If you have never won the premier league you are not a big club imo
