Apologies for not being sure how to conduct a poll, and being honest, I don't want one potentially spoiled by outside influences, either but matters have now come to a head.

The infighting on this board has become intolerable recently and it all centres around one person. We all know that person to be Daiswanhuwsmate. He recently posted that he will do everything in his power to bring this board down, and that he has no confidence in the moderators of this forum. Also we know we have posters leaving this forum because of Dai's postings. With this latest development we as mods feel that this situation cannot be allowed to continue and now something has to give. We have with a heavy heart decided that the time has come for our posters to make a straight choice between retaining us four as your moderators.

Valley and Chico have agreed to this course of action with me, but as yet I have not been contacted by Musty, but being the honourable person that he is, I would be surprised if he did not concur.

I just ask all you Swans posters out there to freely speak your opinions on the subject matter on this thread. Please do not try to come up with other solutions because as I have already stated matters have now come to a head. If the general concensus of opinion is to support Dai, then we as moderators will accept your decision gracefully and we will step down with immediate effect. However if the board decide to support us over Dai then we will be looking at enforcing a ban on Dai for his recent comments. This will not be a permanent site ban as not one of us want to do that. We would however be looking at a considerable ban with the hope that such a ban would act as a deterrent against future transgressions.

Again I apologise that it has come to this but we feel exasperated. I look forward to all your posts and welcome your opinions.

I will leave the thread open so each and everyone can share their views until Monday, then we can evaluate what the outcome of peoples comments. I will however appreciate, that some won't like this thread, due to it's contentious nature. Please don't let is descend into another slanging match, as we've had for the last week or so.

Lets be civil with each other.

    Thanks

No brainer, No contest, I definitely support our mods over Dai every day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

Shame it's come to this but I understand why. That's 1-0 to the mods so far then

I can't see what he's said but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work it out.

Too bad the mods feel like this but they do a thankless task and deserve our support on this. I'm glad it's not going to be a permanent ban and hopefully a lengthy one will bring him to his senses

100% mods <ok>. This time last week there were no issues. Debate and banter was flowing freely from everyone. Then it all changed .........

Too bloody right PGF. I make that 2-0 mods. Don't think we should count the mods votes (4) or Dai's (1) as that wouldn't be fair

Bloody hell another pointless thread over this so called issue. Why can't you just let people decide what to debate? If nobody are interested in what anyone says then it dies a death. Honestly its pathetic you are even doing this as we know what the clique will decide! If you can't be bothered to be moderators just step down now without all this crap. If you want to stay as moderators then fine stay, frankly it doesn't matter! Just let everyone have the chance to debate, and that includes Dai, Dilli, PGF , Phil, Myself and everyone else.

Not much doubt for me either. I used to read the board all the time but its becoming more infrequent and i barely post because any decent discussion on here gets ruined and the overwhelming majority of it is down to the person you mentioned. It simply ruins the fun of the board.

If it was someone who made one mistake in a heated argument, has apologised and promised it won't happen again, no issues at all, but none of us could accurately estimate how many times a decent discussion has been derailed or some nonsense posted purely to wind people up or insult them.

With all due respect, I dont really understand your decision to consult everyone on here because you really answer your own question with the line in your opening post 'He recently posted that he will do everything in his power to bring this board down'... Why are we considering allowing someone who openly admits that to still be here? Thats ridiculous! This board would be 10x better if he was banned, he adds very little if anything and drains most if not all of the fun away and openly admits he wants to bring the board down... With all due respect, i really don't think you need to ask us, how is it not an automatic decision?

Ban his account, ban his IP address and lets have our board back.

    3-0 and one person abstaining.

Jäger, no offence but this thread is here because Dai forced the mods hands. He said he would bring them and the board down. No wonder they're pissed off. I think this thread will be the last on the subject because I can't see anyone supporting Dai, well maybe Aussie but that's about it. As has been said above this board was far superior without him

I think the biggest problem here is some people seem to think this forum is about human rights and freedom of speech - not a bloody football forum.

Freedom of speech does NOT give you the right to say whatever you wish btw.

The mods are here to keep this forum spam and trouble free and should be allowed to delete posts/ ban people as they see fit without having to undergo a public enquiry every single time someone disagrees with something they did.

If they get the odd decision wrong so what, they are only human and the person affected can always pm one of the other mods if they feel they have been wronged that badly.

Everyone else needs to keep their beak out of it and let the mods do their job as they see fit.

If one of the Mods went seriously rouge then and only then should we be seeing a post like this.

What utter crap. I've been saying till I'm blue in the face that if you want to ignore someone it can be done - if you have the desire to do so. I always support the mods who have a difficult job at the best of times but I'm astonished that you've all agreed to put up a thread like this. Really.

So Dai doesn't conform. Big deal. He rubs you up the wrong way. Big deal. Grow a ****ing pair. This is a forum where everyone's views should be tolerated. Dai has never callled me a prick yet there is one poster here who has and was never even warned for it. Think about that. He's never racist or homophobic - the two big no-no's on a public forum.

As for derailing threads - utter poppycock. They are only derailed because you are all either too dull to ignore his comments or lack the will to do so - preferring to complain about him afterwards. There was one thread earlier this week that had over 200 posts yet only 5 were from him.

I'm not in the business of defending Dai. We've crossed swords here too and he's big enough to look after himself. But I've seen this witch hunt mentality in action before on this board and frankly it's ugly. We are getting a reputation elsewhere as an intolerant bunch and are rapidly becoming the laughing stock of the forum.

As for bleating about Dai's responses in 'bringing down the forum' if you push someone around long enough they will bite back. I've done it myself. You really can't blame him.

This pathetic thread is yet another attempt to cause conflict and it's obvious the clique's PM facilities have been working overtime. No coincidence Dilli was the first to respond and look at his responses since. He's loving this.

Instead of leaving things lie, here we have another thread where posters are now put on the spot to 'choose sides'. How divisive is that? If you REALLY wanted to solve the problem why not set up a thread 'How to Deal With Dai' setting out how to use the Ignore Button and giving a mandate from the mods that nobody should use the 'reply with quotes' facility on his posts. That way he still can say what he likes and those willing to listen can do so whilst others can tune out. It really isn't rocket science, kids. But no, there's an agenda (barely hidden) to permanently ban one of our longest posters. Where will it end?

So I for one won't play your pathetic little game. <sorry>

I agree, this is a football forum, so why isn't Dai allowed to discuss football? I very rarely see him go off the subject of football, the only time I see him really going off topic is in threads like this, or where he is attacked for a point of view, which normally is about football.

And freedom of speech is something fundamental in our society, we should be able to discuss subject matters in this case football without the crap basically. Its just a forum, this is just a bit of cyberspace, its not real, anyone can be anyone they want.

And can I say that its the moderators putting this thread up, so its their own public inquiry, they want this kind of crap, hence the reasons for putting yet another bloody post about this, now by my reckoning, that is 4 threads, 3 of which has been closed, what was wrong with the first may I ask?

Its all getting rather tiresome, we know what the result is going to be in this, the clique will win! Now moderators lets close this thread, and open another one discussing the same bloody thing without anything being resolved. You are destroying the forum yourselves, you don't need Dai to do this, he's just a handy excuse!!

Putting it mildly I'm shocked that anyone can defend him.

I expect it from someone like Aussie but not you jäger I thought you would know better. Instead of thinking just about Dai and his right to wum and destroy the board why don't you think about the mods instead. Why is this thread here ? It's because they've had enough just like many others. They do a thankless task made much harder by one person.

If you take Dai out of the equation then the mods would have a simple task. Just about everyone else self moderates and they very rarely have to step in and make a comment. This was proved with the recent weeks peace we had. As soon as he's back then chaos takes over.

I can't show you where he said he would take the board down because I have him on my ignore list. I do remember it was somewhere on the Man Utd thread by Norway if you want to look it up.

People have stated they are leaving because of him, Stumpy being the latest and he was fcuking gloating over it. He was actually happy that someone was going. What person in their right mind thinks like that? There are people on here I don't get on with but I don't encourage them to leave and I certainly wouldn't gloat if they did

No wonder the mods feel how they do, they've given everyone a choice what they want. It's either them or Dai end of no ifs and buts, I chose the mods who do you chose whoever you are ?

Dilli: Considering you have Dai on Ignore you seem to know a lot about what he says <laugh>. If you can put him on Ignore why can't your butties? Are they challenged in some way? Why leave a forum because of one poster when it's easy to avoid the problem? Sorry I don't buy it. What's annoying about Dai isn't Dai himself but the overreaction he gets. THAT'S what derails threads. Can't you see it?

A bit of friendly advice. Stop your silly crusade now. It's making you and the Swans forum look really bad, and all it's doing is regurgitating old arguments and causing yet more conflict. Bad show. :(

...and as for "I expect it from someone like Aussie" well if that means I'll fight tooth and nail for free speech then yes, that's me and I won't apologise to you nor anyone else. <ok>

Then why contribute at all Dilli? I'm sure others are finding this nonsense very tiresome. Do try and grow up just a tad. It'll open up a whole new adult world for you. <ok>

Btw can't make out your avatar - it sucks. But I'm sure you're very proud of it. <sorry>
