Chris Ford ‏@ChrisFordTV 16m Paulo di Canio says he's fined 7 players this week for failing to "climb 7 steps in the training ground to sign items for fans" #SAFC 1/2 Chris Ford ‏@ChrisFordTV 15m He says they must learn discipline and it has to start with even the smallest things!! #SAFC 2/2 Brilliant!
Obviously we don't know what the full situation was, but if fans take the time to turn up or are invited the the academy, it's the least they can do...
i say good on him. hardly takes a moment to sign a few posters does it? a bit of humility wouldn't go a miss
I doubt it was £1000`s probabaly £50 each max, should save all these fines up and give them to charity at the end of the season.
I think its great, it will probably be a small fine and will be part of getting banter going among the players as well as getting some discipline too. When I played rugby we had loads of silly fines for stuff and it taught you stuff like not to forget your tie, gum shield etc... but we had loads of banter with it too. At the end of the season we used the fines for a big free piss up. Its about building team spirit as well as discipline. I think PDC knows what he is doing.
totally agree with this mate, but i have been thinking for a little while now that he is being a bit too vocal about all the implimentations, its great that it is happening but his obvious love of the media attention could well be his undoing imho, its as if he is giving 5 interviews a day. Its just a very slight concern at the minute, however i have found myself saying, will you shut the **** up paolo on more than one occasion now. Having said that its all probably so the players know exactly where they stand and so will incoming players aswel
That's a good point lets hope he settles down a bit when next season starts. This could be a test to see who he wants to keep and who he wants to sell.
hope so, there's no getting away with the fact that he's mad, but then all geniuses are, and he was deffo a genius player, strange, uncertain and exciting times ahead
Agreed - when I coached under 9's and they didn't tie their own laces I fined them 50p. I then made the whole team un-tie their laces and do them together. It does help them grow as boys and the parents loved it too. These small things all add up. They will become better men and professionals for this.
I saw on the internet somewhere his fines list for Swindon. e.g £10 for being late or something. He's hardly going to fine our players big money. Probably be no more than £100 each
