No. I have visited the country before and find it hard to understand what the benefits will be of the club visiting.

Netherlands - Belgium would make more sense. Also as this Botswanna trip is linked to the community trust kids teams could have been taken to say the Netherlands more easily. It's not obvious what this Botswanna tour is about, hardly going to increase support either.

For once, I wish Bristol City would go on a tour of the USA.

Not only are they at a similar level to us, a lot of them dream of playing in Europe and it would be a fantastic place to scout. It'd also be a fantastic place for the team to visit.

Clearly you can't understand why Botswana was picked. I heard that Damascus, Baghdad, Tehran and Nigeria were fully booked for the summer tour schedules.

In footballing terms, it's hard to understand what benefits the team will get other than playing a couple of matches together. In community terms, I guess we might become the best supported L1 club in Botswana?

Bit of bonding - maybe it's more something we are doing to help someone (i.e Botswana) than getting something out of it

Maybe City are trying to tap in to all these Africans who have recently discovered oil and gold out there.

Though I would imagine with the heat it probably will make the players fitter as all the athletes with the best stamia all from those parts of the world.

Can't see it doing any harm and the links might prove useful later on Botswana is just developing as a football nation they might just develop some good players and if they see us as helping them might just be we could benefit down the line, we scratch their backs etc.

I live a kilometre above the sea but it has done sod all for my fitness, mind you I am close to 70. As hawkmoonfy2 said it may be about some back scratching and I hope our management have advised the lads that they will need just about every vaccine known to mankind prior to the trip with probably a scratch on the arm.

I want a friendly with Willem BUT people cant moan about the board getting involved in football matters, then demand the same privilege.

A home fixture next season then an away one the season after makes sense.

Should make it a yearly thing. One year here the following there or visa versa. Its more exciting that Clevedon and Forest green
