Thanks i was considering whether i could be bothered to trawl through the old articles looking for examples to back my argument but i see you have done it for me. As a result i will now get on with some work!

I don’t want to start and argument with you your match reviews are good and nufc stuff fine but for you to say this was a waste of thread just set me off there for a minute.

I'll give tiote a reach around if this is true thats how much I doubt this haha. Upwards of 30 million+ and hes on £250,000 a week. Even if we were to match that (which we won't) you will have a starting 11 wondering why their wage is capped and agents will demand better deals or it's offski, even with the new TV money.

Nothing more that a PR stunt to drum up the machine with ashley rubbing his hands together just ahead of the release of next season kit.

I actually agree with you Monument, i just find it surprising he would do it from his own website, makes Sports Direct look a lot foolish if it is eventually proved to be not true.

I've made 4 OT articles in the last few months, and they were all created during a time where the board wasn't very active.

"How is it conceivable that an NUFC forum doesn't have a thread about it?"

Because we should know better not to make threads dedicated to a random ****ty online article that is almost definitely talking out of it's arsehole.

If it was about a realistic transfer target, then fine. But Rooney to Newcastle will never happen, and it's most likely just a joke to get attention. That's all news sources care about. Attention, not telling the absolute truth.

If we made threads discussing every ****e article that came out, we'd end up turning out like the Mackem board where good threads are pushed out of the way and not given the attention they deserve because the board is flooded with ****e threads made for no good reason.

I only make none-nufc stuff every so often, and they usually contain things in which I believe a significant potion of the board will be interested in discussing.

I'm sure we all know out of common sense to ignore crappy news articles like these, not make threads about them.

What's not true? Derek's wife could have called one of Rooney's agents and said "fancy coming here, like?", to which the reply was "seriously?! lols". Thus low level discussion, clubs not actually talking, no lies told, press for the website and so on.

You do realise what the target market for Sports Direct is? Guys and gals one bon-bon short of a sweet shop.

Well stranger things have happend, to be honest from Ashleys perspective if he tables a big offer and offers big wages (other than strenghening the sqaud as a +) he must see other financial gains here and thats ultimately what drives him he approaches things from a business perspective and doesnt slap around the cash like a fool if this is serious then Ashley is focused on the cash aand what a move like this would generate the club. Rooney is known world wide and it would raise the club profile without a doubt but I just dont see it happening that being said I agree it makes it more odd to be on the sports direct website and Ashley must have input into what goes on that. If he doesnt he cant be running his company well and we all know hes done well so far. Hes not daft.

<laugh> Well I'm hung like a donkey so maybe I can help. Eeyore.

Nedders - you better take back what you said about Thinner Mikes shop too. He sold me some Nike Elasticos and a Ajax (soon to be out of date) away top at a very reasonable price recently when I took up 5 a side. He is a diamond geezer and his shop is a fantastic messy bargain hunt <laugh>

Norma i don’t think Nedders said anything derogatory about the shop just the people that shop there.

You would probably have realised this if you weren’t one bon-bon short of a sweet shop ;)

The worst part is that some muppet will probably buy our shirt on release with Rooney on the back...

True. The reason I am having to play 5 a side is I ate too many of my bon bons!

I thank thee for proving my point. Anyone who buys Elastico's instead of Mundial or AdiNova needs their head looking at. Hats off on the Ajax away, mind. Atletico Madrids, Palermo, Bremen, Dormund, and Boca Juniors away kit are all plenty smart.

Can't wear Adidas, too tight for my feet. Nike are just a more comfortable fit. Being hung like a donkey, you can imagine what my feet are like <yikes>

This reminds me of when there was talk of a Taylor/Puyol swap in the national rags.

I'll definitely get a Messi one. I'll put my order in straight away and be one of the first to sport it.

Great advertising gimmick! How many will click on his website to see the story, then stay and browse?
