Looking at some of the posts it seems that many of you have a list of about eight players who they want to go. The likes of Vaughan and Larsson for example.

You also have a list of about six or seven who should stay. The likes of Mig and Sess.

We have a paper thin squad which has been stretched to the point of us now having six guaranteed first team players out (I include Wes Brown in that) for the Spuds game.

If we got rid of 8 players and brought 8 in we would still have a paper thin squad.

If we brought 10-12 players in just how would that work and what sort of price would that cost?

    Here's my 2 pennyworth;

We should buy up to 5 players this summer. Each one MUST be a guaranteed first teamer and be better than what we have now.

We can let a couple go (Mohammed Ali for example) but we need to keep players such as Vaughan etc in the squad for back up.

When we get the 6 injured/suspended players back and add 5 guaranteed better players to the current first teamers like AJ and Alfie, that would give us a bigger and better pool of players.

Next transfer window add maybe 2 more starters, as opposed to making up the numbers signings, then let a couple of the lesser squad players go.

What ever comes through the youth system will be a bonus. Mandron looked lively going on the few minutes he played.

If Ellis splashes the cash then add more than 5 this summer but they must all be better than those we have already, a lot better.

Thanks to Arsenal last night and hopefully next weekend.

That's it...at least I can now fart with confidence.

.Got to get rid of the ****e and I really think Paulo will. This guy will demand the best and McLean, Bardsley, Vaughan, Cuellar, Killa, Bramble, Brown, Rose(not by choice) are gonners. That will free up plenty of space and wages and already having a small squad. We need 10 in minimum. All depends on money but there has got to be players throughout Europe who are better than this ****e for realistic amounts. Can't wait for him to get started.

Agree with the sentiment. Out of the list of not required players, you dont have to let them all go just make them all available to go. However I would defo keep the following:

    Mig
    Westwood
    O'Shea
    Colback
    Alfie
    AJ
    Sess
    Fletcher

All others would be available to be moved on

Yes we have to get rid of the dead wood, but it can't be done in one fell sweep, and must be a gradual process.

Agree totally Charley, I also think the loan system would be a good way to improve our squad with quality players, which also means we wouldnt have the need to spend shed loads of money. I know its not every ones cup of tea but we cant spend £10m each on every new player.

Obviously we need the 4/5 quality signings but then we can beef up the squad with some quality loan additions too. I would like to use 2 loans up next season as anymore and it becomes a problem the following season.

I reckon there will be one big signing (hopefully Rose), then 3-5 players coming in from foreign leagues or the championship (Burnley's Charlie Austin? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Austin).

Priority will be keeping hold of Mig and Sess as well. However, from what we have seen from Westwood, I wouldn't be panicked if Mig goes.

Thats fine so long as we get an option to buy written into the loan. I'm thinking of the likes of Dannys Rose and Wellbeck.

    Same here mate.

If we get offered 12m plus for the Mig, I would accept. I have total confidence with Westwood and wouldn't bat an eye lid if he were to be our number 1.

Not since Sir Kevin and the Steed have a loved seeing a player pull on the SAFC top as much as Mig. The guy is a class act, a very good person (how many footballers would do a degree in Political Science whilst playing?). I am confident as Westwood as a no.2, but for me we need Mig. He virtually guarenteed our survival this season

Don't think there's anything virtuyal about it - without him (and I really do rate Westwood) I honestly think we'd be down!

On the plus side, if Mignolet went I think Westwood is a very capable replacement

People keep bleating on about getting rid of Killa, yet whenever I've seen him play he's not put a foot wrong.
Would rather have him at CH than Carlos or Tightarse.

    I agree.

Killa is the only CH we have with any skill on the ball. O'Shea is a better all out defender, but I dont trust him when he makes runs out of defence.

Whatever we do with Killa, I hope we can get a CH who can make runs forward. Watched the arsenal/wigan game and when Arsenal CH made a run, it pulled the entire team forward and pulled Wigan's midfield out of shape.

    I agree Billy.

Boys, I love the Mig as well. No doubt about it he had kept us up. I reckon Westwood though runs him very closely. I really believe that and have always had a good feeling about him.

Westwood's another one who hasn't really put a foot wrong, he came in when Mig got his face smashed but got dropped again when he got the flu.
The rest as they say, is history.

Getting 10 players in at the same time could be suicide! Players need time to gel. Although i understand what you mean! A maximum of 5 quality players should suffice before the start of the season. 1st team players who would help increase the quality of the existing players! Whether we will get them or not???? Who knows!?

One thing though......I'm sick and tired of saying the same thing every transfer window.......everytime we seem to need '5 new players, or the need for a clear out. After the amount of money been spent, its just not on!

I wonder if Gardner would've been on that list had he not got sent off against Stoke? He was excellent for us this season. One of our much better players and stood out for most of the season. He'd be kept for me definitely

The thing with Killgallon is. He's not good enough. He's not **** like Bardsley but hes just not good enough.

In my opinion the only reason people like him is because he doesnt get a game. We remember him doing the rabona against man city. He also got ripped to shreds by Kevin Davies, a man with the turning circle of a small oil tanker. It was the same with Meyler. He wasnt getting a game so he was becoming more popular with the fans.

Killa needs to be moved on, same with bardo and titus. Carlos is a decent option to have on the bench.
