Quite unrelated but this is the only transfer based thread I see...

Apparently we've just beaten you to the signature of Spanish Cordoba starlet Fede Vico...

Anyone know anything about this boy apart from the obvious? Thought it'd be a under 1m deal... but apparently he's worth 4-7m euros and we're giving him the 11 shirt! <yikes>

    Probably all ****e however.

Players and managers can say anything they want but when the summer offers start coming in then the end result may be very different. Let's hope everyone stays but I can't see it myself.

I see Laudrup is still choosing his words carefully - "My INTENTION is to be at Swansea next season." Which is not the same as "I WILL be at Swansea next season".

This is intended to be a realistic post, not a negative one.

Just like doctors and lawyers, Aswan. They rarely give you a firm statement. I believe that Michael Laudrup is an honest man and that he does have every intention of staying on. However, the world being what it is, one never knows what's around the corner that can change things. Laudrup, an intelligent man, realises this and phrased his response accordingly.

Quite so, Ivor, so I would say the best way of putting it is in percentage probabilities. Taking everything into account I would say there is an 85% probability he will be here next season.

    <laugh>.........................what are you like aswan!.......................<laugh>

He's been an absolute breath of fresh air, a great ambassador for our club, and his goal scoring abilities, and selflessness on the pitch and off it, are to be applauded, I just hope we can keep Michu as long as possible, best transfer for Swansea city this decade, what a positive example to our youngsters!...............<cheers>

I understand what your saying there Aswan. I think in Laudrups case he has been around football long enough to know that talk is cheap. He is constantly pushed on these questions in his press conferences(well worth getting swansplayer to see the words from the man himself, everything is in the correct context then) and you can see him getting slightly pissed off with saying the same thing all the time.

I think its worth looking a bit into Laudrups past to find why he is using the word "intention" . Things didn't go well in Real Mallorca and Spartak Moscow and he left because of internal strife not because something better came along, his intention was IMO to stay at both of those clubs but internal circumstances changed things so he walked.

If our club decided to cash in on Michu,Chico,Ash and a few others Laudrup might decide that the Swans job is then not for him and leave, we know that our board will back every manager 100% and support him to the hilt but Laudrup may not be fully trusting in this area just yet and may well be soured by his past experiences in the same way us fans have been with our previous managers.

Im not worried at all about Laudrup leaving in the summer, nothing in life is certain, anything can happen and he has been in the goldfish bowl of Barca and Madrid where every tiny word is taken and twisted around. If he says he definitely stays and something unforeseen happens then he is labelled a liar for going .

Im sure he would prefer to not answer anything at all about his future, but if he does that then it leaves him open to even more speculation !! so he cant really win can he ? One more season to repair his CV and I think he will be gone, I think he is being careful not to lull the fans into a Martinez/Brenden love fest as he knows he is only passing through, I believe the club know his intentions and barring something amazing happening he will be here to lead us into next season .

We should just enjoy the ride and be thankful for a guy that doesn't waste time bullshitting everybody all the time,i find his interviews quite refreshing and he strikes me as an honest bloke swimming in a sea of dishonest people.. <cheers>

Top post, mate! Laudrup always conducts himself with the class we have come to associate with the guy. Right now, I wouldn't swap him for anyone else out there. He's a top professional on and off the field and I believe that we are truly blessed to have him.

Mind you, if we lose to Fulham.....

Spot on NJ. Laudrup won't do a Martinez by declaring his undying love for us and when hegoes it will be with the best wishes of the board and fans. everything under Laudrup has been a bonus, first trophy in the cabinet makes him an instant legend for me.

Quality guy, straight as a die.

Wouldn't it be great if he could get a hat-trick, and finish the season in the top three strikers!..................
