Have to agree & he'd certainly give some leadership which we've lacked but would be a gamble due to injury record & wouldn't want to blow all the budget on 1 player as the squad we're going to have isn't good enough without a number of replacements.
Or just trying to get the best out of the card he was dealt perhaps?? It is only now you are really hearing what he thinks. I don't think we should discount any older players either. We need a similar mix of youth and experience that took us up last time.
This time last year...Park was Fergusons go-to-player for big games....And ferguson didn't get much wrong It is the curse of the hooped-shirt
Are we going to walk the same broken path like in the past? Or should we try a new, different, more modern and better approach? For the price of Parker we could get two up and coming hungry players with a future. Two players to share the burden of a +46 game season or a 32 year old injury prone past his sell by date outdated player? It's an easy choice for me. Two years ago yes, instead of Barton. Like Flyer says, it would only be because of money and that is not the road to success. A BIG NO!
The problem has been with the players. Too much **** going on in the dressing room. It all started when Barton decided that, as club captain, he would try and bully the likes of Taraabt and gobbing off that the whole set-up was totally unprofessional (unlike Barton himself who, as we know, is a model professional.). Different players need handling in different ways. For me the signing of Parker would be similar to when the Championship West Spam bought Kevin Nolan from Premiership Newcastle.
I've heard Andy Johnson is feeling lonely in the rehab room, maybe Scotty Parker could keep him company and cheer him up?
I told the congregation Sunday about the wonders of Park he is a quality player ... as is Bosingwa ... what needs to change is the confidence levels and people will see the quality rather than call for them to leave the club ... The fanbase has lost sight of what we have to work with here ... we will need 8 quality midfielders for the next campaign all of which have to have the right mindset ... This is Harolds job to get this done now
This story is all that is wrong with Harry's style of management. In what way is this any different that the way Hughes surrounded himself with his old boys? Where are the new talents, the young, keen players that are ready to make the step up? Not wishing to start a sh!tstorm of abuse, but I am fed up with managers that don't see further than their last club, their agent or players that used to be good a couple of years ago. It's too expensive and too divisive in the dressing room - players on 5 times the rate of their colleagues can't be good for morale - especially when things are not going right.
Parker is 2 years older and is 33, and Nolan signed for WHU in 2011 when he was 29 - 4 years at that time in a player's career is a significant difference I think.
I, along with many others here seemed to think, at looking at the names of the team list, that we have had a quality PL team. Naturally, results haven't gone the way we had hoped but what really annoys me is that Harry now says that this current team is not up to it for the Championship ............ WTF ! I was under the impression that Harry could turn this lazy, non working team around and we fans would get to see the players, playing to their potential. I think we all agree that a player with the attitude of Parker is what we really need but considering his age and injury count, we are all a bit gun shy to take him, for fearing he too will turn into another dud.
Signing Parker would be exactly the same move as when Warnock signed Derry, the right player who will do a job and motivate the team around him, but once we go up he becomes redundant again because of age. But this is the choice we are left with, he's perfect for the temporary fix if we want to go for promotion next year, but if we want to look long term and create a team that wont struggle in the Premiership then he's the wrong signing. But do we as a club, owner and fans want to completely change the team and possibly wait several years before we make it right and get promoted again? Fernandes said that's what he wants to happen, which proves he's learning, but I'm not so sure many fans would accept this judging by the stupidly negative mood and comments from some fans at the moment???
Parker and Derry in the midfield, talk about Dad's Army. I agree though, he is probably the experienced lynchpin in the midfield that we will need.
FANTASTIC. An injury prone ex-international at the end of his career. PERFECT. Why didn't we think of this before?! This is exactly what we've been missing. We're all idiots for not thinking of this one before. More seriously, Parker is brilliant when he plays, and I'm sure he's still too good for the CCC, but we need young blood now. Surely we've learnt that?
Parker, despite his uncanny resemblance to a Thunderbird puppet, is a good player. If Spurs don't want him there will be plenty of lower Prem sides which will. Why would he come to us other than for a long and lucrative contract?
'Arry wants a lobotomy more like. Is this for real or is he finally losing it? Come on Harold, get with the frikkin' programme!!!!
we couldn't get him when we were in the prem, why would he come to us in the championship.. unless its for money and we know where that got us!
FFS chaps Parker is only 32! Nowhere near past it. He'd be a great signing in my book. Lets not forget we ave also been let down by the younger players as well as the older ones ( hello Hoillet, Granero, Adel).
