<peacedove>We can only hope Luis Suarez is going to be here next season and beyond.
In my opinion when Suarez is back from suspenson he should partner Sturridge on regular basis.
Daniel Sturridge already proved that he can be as deadly as Suarez.<applause><applause><applause>

Been very impressed with him since he joined. I'll be first to admit that I didn't think he would be a good signing, but boy has he made me eat my words. I don't think people outside of LFC realize how good he is and the potential he has, he could be one of the best strikers in the league. Great touch, vision, pace, awareness and finish, he isn't a big man but when the ball comes up to him the ball is getting stuck to him 9/10, he then has the awareness to bring others in to play.

We need more players to link up with Suarez and be on the same wavelength as him, Sturridge and Coutinho definitely provide this, hopefully in the Summer there will be more of this type of signing. 12m? Bargain.

Look sturridge is a bit of an ass clown. he should put his head down and work... he should also be shown a video of the mistakes he made yesterday where he could have made more of a lot of chances... He's raw still, he can be a lot better... which is a good thing!

For me luis suarez should NEVER be playing central striker anyway but we should be looking at three key things next season.

    1. Get sturridge on the shoulder of the last man.

    2. sort out gerrard's position.

    3. get coutinho a permenant deep lying play maker role.

If those three things mean squarez ends up wide right or left thats fine by me! drop downing for the love of god!

simply put without even improve the squad next year we should be going 4-2-3-1

    Reina
    Johnson Skertl Agger enrique
Lucas gerrard (this part scares me frankly)
    Suarez Coutinho Sterling
    Sturridge

I think our bench is gash but thats another tale.

Jones, wisdom, kelly, henderson, downing, borini, shelvey

If we buy we need to be buying to really improve this scenario. Get someone to play wide right/left, get a real option up top rather than borini, more quality in midfielder duo, centre half.

But on sturridge we need to see that he is 23, he will make errors and we need to live with that and put him up there where he can score. running into the box and in the box,

The game against Fulham was probably his best game. Not just because he scored a hattrick, but his overall play was superb. Movement, vision and his touch were top class - the ball was literally glued to his feet.

I still have my fears that he will continue to blow hot and cold (i.e. play very well one match then be non-existent the next) but I believe he will improve this.

He was given a great chance to step up in Luis's absence and so far so good.

he needs to pick the right pass and work on a few things still it was good but he was set away by coutinho twice lets not forget the supply. Both men have a base to improve off of and deliver champions league football for us next year.

    LFC best players:

    reina
    Gerrard
    Suarez
    Sturridge
    Coutinho

    rest? could be improved on.

agger, johnson and enrique are decent.

Lucas need to get back to his full fitness as his game is all based on that.

    thats 9 players

we've potential in the form of henderson and sterling and wisdom and even kelly. (not shelvey)

So this isi the issue, there is not 2 player sin every position to compete and drive the team on btu there's more than enough quality there to do a lot batter than 58-61 points.

It brings back memories of the old Gerrard-Torres partnership where Torres would play on the shoulder and accelerate into space.

It boils back to your theory 'Ask the man on the street' - before they came, I was happy with Sturridge and Coutinho joining LFC. Why? - Because both have good technical attributes and both have good experience. I hope we add similar players of this calibre in the summer because we have a really good foundation.

  7. I wasn't keen on us signing Sturridge and often referred to him as having velcro on his boots, but he's impressed me since he arrived. He holds the ball up well and brings others into play. However, I still stand some of my original assessment. He still has velcro on his boots at times (prime example yesterday when we were 2-1 up and he was one on one with the keeper. A simple slide pass and Shelvey gets a tap-in put Daniel goes alone and misses) and has been hit and miss with his form too. He picked up form having played two former clubs and seems to have flourished since Suarez picked up his ban.

I said on another thread that: Sturridge and Suarez formed an instant understanding, Sturridge and Coutinho link up well and Suarez and Coutinho work well together too. I hope they are our trio (not as good but like xavi, Iniesta and Messi are for Barca only) but I have doubts that all three can cooperate at the same time. Maybe we need to try two up top (S&S) with Coutinho just behind?

You know who I would love to have seen in this system? Dirk Kuyt.

I'd play this system when we have the ball:

    ------------------------- Lucas -----------------------------
    ----------------Gerrard--------------------------------------
    ------------------------------Henderson--------------------
    ------------Ford--------------------Suarez-----------------
    -----------------------Sturrdige------------------------------

And back into this shape when we don't

    ------------------------- Lucas -Gerrard-------------------
    ----------------------------Henderson----------------------
    ------------Ford------------------------------Suarez-------
    -----------------------------Sturrdige------------------------

In both systems I'd give Ford and Suarez the licence to roam all over the place along the front line, sometimes central, sometimes right and/or left, drag defenders with them all over the place and create space for the likes of Gerrard and Henderson as well as the full backs.

Been impressive so far. He was brought in to take some of the goalscoring burden and he has certainly done that.

He hasn't yet put to bed the doubts I had about him though. He needs to produce in the types of games we always struggle in and as yet I can't see how he is going to make a difference against the teams who come and play two deep lines of four. Time will tell if he can produce when we need him to and do it on a consistent basis.

Credit to Rodgers though, I've been critical of him about his handling of the Carroll farce and his summer cock-ups but got to say Sturridge and Coutinho have really given me hope for the future <ale>

Sturridge still frustrates me at times - much like Suarez does. He'll grab a bag of goals, which I can't complain too much about, but often seem to forget there are other players on the team. Which is a shame, because I've seen both of them link up brilliantly when they think about it - Sturridge's backheal to almost set Borini up, for example.

3 goals and 3-1 winners with still, in my opinion, a selfish striker is good. I'm hopeful for the future when he starts to realise there's a bit more quality around him and he can rely on them. Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho could be a quality trio next season if they don't get banned...They need a 4th though, to push them for starting spots and keep them on their toes, or to impact a game from the bench. Borini looked good imo when he came on, but unless Sterling pushes on again, we need another quality option, not potential.

Midfield looks good (I was impressed again with Hendo and Shelvey looked good too) but even Lucas/Gerrard/Hendo just lacks a certain something. Lucas isn't close to his best either. I take back what I thought previously, Alonso would be a great midfielder to compete for starting spots and would really help Hendo develop another side to his game.

  13. I'd prefer to see Robbie Fowler:

    Sturridge - Coutinho - Suarez
    Fowler

Robbie would get 40 goals a season in this side (so long as S&S pass the bloody ball that is <grr>)

You know what, I have a good feeling about Borini for next season.

    ---------Coutinho-------
    --Suarez---------Borini--
    ---------Sturridge-------

But I also like Henderson in his role on the left. Suarez in the middle to. And Sterling. Expecting a striker and AM in the summer. Options options options. Exciting.

Borini will come good, despite the fact that many have been writing him off all season. His movement is fantastic, he works hard, he grabbed a goal the other week, hit the post this week and looks sharp coming on as a sub. I like the guy. He won't be a top player, but he'll be a more than decent squad player - like Kuyt, but faster.

  16. I think Borini and Allen will be better next season but I don't see either as first choice or top four quality. I think Henderson will have a more reserved role next year too. Of course, that depends on who comes in too. Sturridge might be on left or an impact player once Neymar arrives too <whistle>

I can see Borini being like Kalou was for Chelsea. He wasnt a top player but he worked hard, had energy, was determined and was very useful to Chelsea, scoring some important goals in big games. The same with Park at United.

  18. Again, depends who comes in and leaves. He will get less chances should we sign one or two attacking players, could get as many or more should Downing go.

anyone else think that Coutinho looks more of an Alonso type player - early days but he has ability and seems to have the right attitude (no strops or hissy fits)

Just popping in to say hello - it's been too long - hope all is well with ye all - my spinal fusion and decompression is causing me problems so the computer is out of bounds most of the time

    Cheers all and YNWA

Top 10 minutes per goal: 1st

No.1: Daniel Sturridge (105.7 minutes per goal)

Sturridge's treble against Fulham took his league tally for the season to 11 in 1,163 minutes.
