So, assuming the accuracy of Lee Ryder's sources we've probably got Pards for at least another half a season. It will be interesting to see how we play against Arsenal without the pressure of potential relegation hanging over the players.

Think it is important that all of the first team are kept over the summer. I'd say Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Colo are the ones we need to really go all out to convince to stay... Cabaye has been very poor of late and below his best for much of the season but if Pardew can get the best out of him again he can make the team tick. Ben Arfa, if he could keep fit would be a great player for any of the top sides let alone us. Colo is probably going but if he could be convinced to stay that would be such a boost to the whole team.

If Pardew can keep these players, and bring in the extra quality we need, then he might just be able to turn it around and bring the fans back onside. He really needs to stop the defending leads after halftime stuff now that the pressure is off though, and get back to the kind of football we were enjoying in the run in last season.

There are no quotes what so ever that suggests Alan Pardew may stay. We backed him strongly this January and that big gamble almost killed us. Retaining his services in such an important role is not a gamble just pure insanity.

Fair. Give the squad a rest, with no international tournaments, make a few new signings, give the new players time to bed in, see how it works for a few months.

Forget this season, start with a fresh slate and go from there.

You are happy with a manager who comes out and says he does not care if we lose 4.0 nil ??
Prob tongue and cheek but he is in no position to be

This stability thing is fantastic, I'm surprised more clubs don't give it a go. <doh>

I like stability but not in place of direction.

I'm not trying to excuse Pardew's faults- good God he has some- but I just feel we should give him another year. That comment is relief from him, pure and simple, the same as all of us are feeling at the moment, glad to see the back of this season which couldn't end soon enough.

I agree but I doubt very much these reports are accurate. I fully expect he'll get the bullet, not least because of his comments in the press about Ashley having underperformed like himself. I'd be very surprised if he is still here come July. My concern is now that I don't think he (or anyone else) would be capable of turning around the ill feeling towards him.

Ashley should have got rid of him at the end of last year's excellent season, any manager worth his salt would have had the league won by Christmas. The decision to let him take charge this season actually beggars belief, let's face it we're one of top clubs in Europe and deserve better, look at Chelsea, they change managers regularly and win loads of trophies. I don't go along with this injuries, not strengthening in the summer, squad too small for the number of games, introducing 5 new players in the January and being suprised if they can't be brilliant every game and people not allowed to make mistakes as long as they learn from them like all good managers and owners the following season bollocks.

If Ashley's got any ambition he'd invite Mourinho, Mancini, Hiddink, Ancelotti and Benitez to put forward their respective ideas on tactics that will please the fans then find out which one of them will pay the club the most money for the priveledge of becoming our manager and appoint him before the Arsenal game.

I clearly want Pardew out because I just don't think he's capable.

I now want him gone not just because he isn't capable but because I fear If he stays and we start next season badly he'll then be sacked mid season which is never good for any club. Kind of like Pouchy touched on really, he won't be given a fair crack next season by the fans (me included) so pointless keeping him.

Rafa Benitez say he wants to manage in England, the PL obviously... Could there be a chance we'll get him?
