The number of times we give away possession by speculatively throwing the ball up the line is bloody criminal.

PDC should have a word with whoever`s taking the throw in.

    1). Look at your shirt.
2). See if you can see someone wearing the same shirt as you are who`s standing on his own.
3). THROW THE ****IN` BALL TO HIM.

Surrendering possession needlessly like that irritates the hell out of me.

    rant over.

We have done this for ever! We have a total lack of movement from throw ins too! Surely this could be worked on.

    It has to be imo.
    It`s so simple.
I don`t know whether by throwing it up the line it`s an attempt to gain territory but throwing the ball to an unmarked player seems to be a concept totally alien to them.
I didn`t see it once in this entire match.

I've noticed this for a few matches now. I can't remember the last time we had a throw in that went to our player.

Thing is you either throw it up the pitch or wait for a player to move toward you but, by then the ref has his cards out and you have a yellow.

You are allowed to throw it back. Throw the damn thing anywhere as long as it`s to one of ours. Keep it simple and keep possession is all I`m saying.

The trouble is...... that confidence is so low that not many of our lads actually want the ball thrown at them !!! The lack of movement and desire to shake off a man marker is woeful at best. You can't really blame the full backs for this. But I do agree that we only retain possession from about 25% of our throw ins. Aaarrrggghhh !!

Agreed mate but, the players have to give the thrower a chance instead of running away from him, another thing for PDC to sort out.

Aye that`s right enough. It just seems so pointless to fight for possession and fight for possession and when the ball goes out of play they give possession away and have to fight for it all over again when it`s already ours.

(shakes head and opens another can).

This throw in malarky was happening all last season. pointed it out to my mate many a time. Bugger all to do with confidence. Simple fact is our main tactic is that when we have the ball we can't wait to give it away. Throw in, two yard pass, free kick, you name it.
