If Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich all win, then Wigan will need to win their next two games and hope that the other teams above them all lose. So they will still be mathematically in with a chance but we could relegate them if we win and the above mentioned teams all pick up points. Should Wigan fail to get anything other than a win against us, they are down.

No need to apologise :) With Mike Dean as the ref, and a fired up Wigan side, we really need to be at our best to get the three points. I think we will though. It will be a close game but we will edge it in the end.

I can't see Wigan do us twice in a row. Wigan take City in FA final, which could have been Arsenal /City. Now Wigan has won FA cup, and they have to beat Arsenal to stay in the league. But Arsenal has not won cup for the past eight years now apart from Arsene Wenga cup champion spot for the last sixteen years. Another final for Wigan and Arsenal on Tuesday.

I wish Wigan to enjoy theFA cup in Npower league and Arsenal in Champion leageu.

They don't have to hope. Their last game is against Villa. 2 wins and they are safe, regardless of the other results.

    Know the feeling..

This. We win our two games we stay up, guaranteed, and todays results didn't change that. Now, our chances of beating a highly motivated Arsenal side? Pretty slim. Probably about 10% - same as our chances of beating City..

Looking forward to the trip, and as usual, travelling in hope rather than expectation.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says he would not care if Arsenal beat his side 4-0 next week after the Magpies ensured their Premier League status with a 2-1 win at QPR on Sunday.

A penalty from Hatem Ben Arfa and a fortuitous strike from Yoann Gouffran saw the Magpies leave Loftus Road with a vital three points that ensured they could no longer be relegated.

    NEWCASTLE LATEST
28/1 Arsenal are 28/1 with bet365 to beat Newcastle 4-0
Champions League-chasing Arsenal will need a victory next Sunday to be sure of a top-four place, while Tottenham will be hoping the Gunners to slip up, but Pardew insists his priority is for Newcastle fans to “enjoy themselves” on the last day of the season.

“We got an important result today,” he told reporters. “I don’t really care if Arsenal win 4-0 if I’m honest – I’m sure Spurs will – but I only care that our fans enjoy themselves.

“I’m very pleased. It was a very important game for this football club. Particularly this year with the finance of the Premier League.

“I thought both penalties were dubious. We played well after that, showed great resilience and it is massive for the North-East to have a team in the Premier League.

The Newcastle boss went on to echo his earlier dismissals of a "rift" existing within the squad and says his side will be better prepared for next year’s league campaign.

“Accusations of a 'rift' are absolutely ridiculous. Those that made them will be sobbing in their beer today,” Pardew continued.

“I think if I put my best XI out every week we would be a top-eight side but I’ve only been able to put it out three times at most. It’s an unforgiving league and if you look at this division, the likes of Swansea and West Brom are only five or six points ahead of us.

“It’s been an unbelievable season and I think it’s been so, so tight because of the financial rewards at stake this year. I will make sure that we are well prepared for next season and thank God we are not in the Europa League again.”

I agree with you for the most part, except I think that City didn't play very well. Hopefully we can put in a better performance and beat Wigan. And another thing, I think Wigan are a great side and it would very sad if you went down.

That's gracious bud. As I say, our chances of beating a highly motivated Arsenal side are pretty slim. But we only have one way out of this now, and that's to win two games so - could be a good night!

Anyway, you could lose to us and still get the fourth spot - Spurs against a relegation threatened Sunderland, and Pardew has already shown his dignity and integrity with his admission that he doesn't care if they lose by a landslide.

Could be! One thing is for certain, a draw helps nobody. It has to be a win either way. <ok>

Yeah, this is the thing about following my lot - never a dull moment! I hope we play like we did at Wembley and at least give you a game. If we go down on Tuesday let's do it with some competition. And then at least on Sunday we'll get to play Villa having paraded the FA Cup.

My sense is that it will a very closely contested game with Arsenal edging it in the end. That's just my Arsenal bias coming through ;) One thing is for certain, you can never quite tell what may happen in football, that's what makes it such a great game, is it's unpredictability. Nothing is for ever dull.

Wow, not that we did not know it already, but this game really is massive now. Can't see Sunderland getting anything at Spurs, so for me this is win or bust. The defence gives me hope, but I am worried about our attack. Podolski has not impressed me one bit as a CF. We need big performances from the likes of Rosicky,Cazorla and Walcott. Our three best attacking players.

Rosicky is a must. Defensive solidarity is a must. Starting the game at a high tempo & pressing well from the very beginning is so important. Bring on pace for the last 25 / 30mins when Wigan tire and Arsenal can do it :)

One of those games that is going to be great for the neutral.I think that you will win it but have to say that a Wigan win would set up a fantastic last day.Nothing personal but I am hoping they get a lucky goal and you don't have the officials you had against us.I understand Dean does you no favours?

Well, Wigan are going to have to dig deep to come back and play a strong game after the cup final, particularly as we have had 10 days rest.

They are professional footballers, but still, that is going to be a huge hill to climb. For a side that relies on their energy, it is going to be tough. I wouldn't play Rosicky or Podolski. I would stick Ox and Walcott and Wishere in, and make 'em run. This is one game, where I think Walcott through the middle might work.

The future belongs to these guys, time for them to prove it!

You lads need a win as we (Sunderland) are absolute garbage at the moment so no chance of anything at Tottenham. We have six players missing, for one reason or another, and most would definitely be first choices e.g Fletcher.
