I must say that the language is a bit strong on this thread. I think everyone should chill out and have some fruit and nut which isn't as fruity and nutty as it used to be.
Hi everyone I see you are looking for new posters, well I have been reading all your posts almost daily for the last few seasons going back to the bbc 606 days, now I have finally decided to join. Looking forward to adding my opinion to a few of your threads in the future if I can work out how this all works
Welcome aboard anglian. I would also like to add to what Hamps said and say SD and KOPR have done a great job so far, I also think the Twitter thing is a good idea although not so sure about the TWTD thing there are some good posters over there who I'm sure would enjoy it over here but i think it would be frowned about advertising a football forum on another football forum but I geuss you can always ask Phil.
Welcome to the Ipswich forum Anglian. I'm sure you won't let the locals scare you if you've been spying on us that long. If you need any help navigating the forum you can always ask on here or send me a pm (private message) Pass the word on to your mates
By the start of next season we will have 1,000s of Townies on here and 1,000s more packing Portman Road every other week when we mount our promotion challenge
Evening Gents (and ladies if you have any?) On the topic of twitter accounts, we've got one going on the F1 board (I moderate there too). I don't run it, another mod does, and uses it to tweet F1 celebrities, and whenever there's a "tweet us questions" thing that's relevant on TV/online, uses it to try and spread the name. I think we had a tweet read out on the BBC F1 coverage at one point, which was good. You can set the twitter up to automatically tweet new threads, with a relevant hashtag, so you might get more people finding you when looking for club news through twitter. He's probably the best one to ask, so if anyone wants to run one, I'd PM BrightLampShade. (Let him know I sent you his way as some form of explanation!) Our twitter account is here if you want to know what it looks like. Although I must admit I don't know why you can't see the number of people followed/following, because it's certainly more than 0 (oh, looks like you have to click it to view them for some reason.) Another idea I suggested to brb which you could use would be to run a prediction competition with TWTD. Go over there and see if they'd be interested in competing, and just have something where they have to predict all league results for a week, and score points for correct scores and correct results (like that Lawro numpty on the Beeb site). Then the top 3 scores (for example) from each forum score points towards a total, and use something like the old F1 scoring system (10-6-4-3-2-1) to award each forum points. So for example a weeks results might look like: 1st: San Diego - 14 Prediction Points - 10 points to not606 2nd: Guru - 10 Prediction points- 6 points to not606 3rd: TWTD poster 1 - x points - 4 for TWTD 4th: TWTD poster 2 -x points - 3 for TWTD 5th: Warky - x points - 2 for not606 6th: TWTD poster 3 - x points - 1 for TWTD Inter forum competition: not606: 17 TWTD: 9 If you only let TWTD know the results are up here, their members would have to come over here to see how they've done, and you might get a few hanging around to join in on anything interesting. If you look busier you might be able to poach a few people "accidentally". If you know of other forums with a strong Ipswich contingent (ja606, new606, etc), you could get them involved too. We've got a guy who runs something similar between F1 forums, and it's proven pretty successful. (Inter-forum prediction league on our Off-topic board if you fancy a gander).
Cheers for your input DH. TWTD already runs a prediction league and similar games. I don't think it's a good idea to do anything with TWTD, it's not in Phil's interests to send traffic over here. I'm not a fan of automation of any kind - it's better to have a personal element, people don't tend to respond so well to automated stuff. Cheers tho much appreciated
Not a bad idea from dh. If we were to have a prediction league but just between ourselves which poor sod is gonna volunteer to keep score.
Christ the bloke is a legend, first he manages to get us to a decent finish and now he is fixing not606. All hail mick mccarthy.
What a legend Come on now West Brom, Newcastle and Sunderland, let's give the budgies something to really sweat about on Tuesday and next weekend!
