Over the weekend i have seen two amazing games. 1st Wigan V Man City This game just makes me believe more in tigers and anything is possible 2nd Leicester V Watford Well you just couldn't write it ,Amazing goals, diving, penalty and justice and off course both teams desire to win Just hope the rest of today's football is as good!
Bizarre how the same penalty miss and the other team go down the other end and score incident has happened 3 times now, in three big matches.
To paraphrase John Inverdale; "Sometimes you love sport and sometimes you hate sport, but basically, you love it."
I saw a quote from Almunia (I think) after the game, where he basically said he didnt think it was a penalty, but was aware they had 2 minutes to score a goal, and the penalty was what gave Watford the chance to score. I think he was just saying it was karma. Was even softer than the one Cardiff got against us ffs. Deeney will be who everyone remembers but for me, Almunia was the man of the match for them by miles.
What I don't understand is why there was supposed to only be 4 minutes of extra/injury time, yet the penalty was awarded in the 96th minute and the final whistle actually blew after 100 mins? what's going on there? Nigel Pearson did not question the time keeping and was actually quite honest in his assessment of the game and admitted Watford were the better team over the two games! the game should have gone on for 95 mins max yet lasted at least 10 mins extra, what caused this?
There was an injury whilst the board was being put up. So, injury time effectively didn't start until ~92mins.
The cup final the other day had 4 minutes added on while the ball was out of play, Watson scored the winner literally as soon as play restarted and there was a minute delay to restart the game. So effectively the game kicked off again at 91 minutes with 4 minutes extra to be played and only about 2 seconds of that had been played so far (the time it took for Maloney's corner to be headed in). There was then a goal kick which Joel took about a month to take (and was rightly booked for) but for some reason this stoppage can't have been added on because the ref ended the game at 94:58. They call stoppage time a minimum but it's rare you even get the amount shown played.
In our game they won a penalty when they went up the other end, and it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. For the other two though, the referee in both cases was Michael Oliver, and in the case of the Watford game he wasn't originally the referee selected for it, it was meant to be Phil Dowd.
It's always, without exception, a minimum of X minutes. They clearly announce this at every single game. What happens if there are 4 goals in that injury time and 3 subs? Are they not supposed to add time on for celebrations and changing of players?
See my post above, they're supposed to but never do properly. Generally if 'a minimum of' 4 minutes are added the game will be stopped at 93:58 ish.
