It also shows that you don't guarantee success by spending lots of cash, you still need a team to play as a team.

    Yeah,fantastic stuff from Wigan.

Most of the 'experts' in the sports media didn't give them a hope.

    this <ok>

I totally agree. city were disgraceful. Playing some crap game i nthe middle sliver of the pitch, not passing it like a team, total individuals. Totally threw the chance on the the floor. Wigan give their all on the other hand.

Fully deserved the win. It's a shame they will end up going down but them's the breaks. City were awful yesterday though and their players and manager deserve a rollicking for such an insipid performance. Any player/manager who can't get motivated for a final deserves the bullet.

Nice one, mito, considering you usually hold them in rather low esteem.

I never thought they'd win, but I wasn't expecting the walkover that so many others seemed to be either. Wigan are a decent side when they get going- it's just that it takes them until February to notice the season's started.
I'll be amazed if they manage to avoid the drop -yet again.

We were just as dismal last season to be fair until we were 2-0 down, which is no good. You've got to play from kick off, not when you go 2-0 down.

sadly i think the 2 pts dropped to Spurs was their last chance of staying up, didn't get what they deserved but then that's football now days.

well done Wigan, just a sad state of the game now days that we will probably have another team that will get relegated who has won the FA Cup.

If they'd have beaten Swansea on Tuesday they'd be on 38 pts and out of the relegation zone. I think that's the game that has sealed their fate. You never know though they went to the Emirates last season and beat Arsenal so it is possible. Just a case of Arsenal desperately trying to get into the top 4, Wigan being tired after playing on a massive pitch for 90 minutes plus all the players taking their eye off the ball after winning the cup which all adds up to them needing to do something really special to win there.

Well done to Wigan, you can say it without talking of City, it was one game and anyone can win in one game, and money which is ****ing stupid, as if Liverpool would have been in the CL finals of 2005 and 2007 without spending money most of the rest of the PL in those years could only dream of on players and wages, Oh! it's now a case of how much big money you spend? bollox

Wigan well done for winning the FA cup but if you go down it is because you deserve to go down for not getting enough points.

Sick and tired of bitching about money some are beginning to sound like the mancs moaning the years Chelsea and City won the league when they themselves spent what amounted to massive fortunes on players when it suited them, Rio? cost more than any player Liverpool Chelsea Spurs or any other team bought at that time and he was just a CB.

We spent 24m on Suarez, how many teams in the PL don't have 24m to spend on one player? Should Everton fans look at us as united fans looked at City and Chelsea when they were financially out-muscled? It's all ****ing relative ****s

I saw a lot of Twitter statuses saying money 0 - 1 passion. Stupid in my opinion. Wigan won the FA cuo because of Dave Whelans money, they are a nothing club with barely any fans and if it wasnt for their smaller sugardaddys they would have no shot of FA cup success or PL survival.

Hope Wigan go down as there are far more Norwich, Sunderland and Newcastle fans who would be happy at survival. Utilitarianism that. Innit.

Once again the 'immense' Yaya Toure fails to impress in a game. I count on one hand the amount of times I've watched city when he's played well. Completely anonymous, lazy and disinterested all game.

    More over rated than Fellaini.

Congrats Wigan, by far the best team. But it once again goes to show that you can't buy passion, only a bunch of mercenaries.
