I think that it is a fair punishment, and hopefully he will have now learnt his lesson..We have all done daft things in drink, but I can honestly say that I have never dream't of taking a firework or flare into a football ground!
The first one was for an act of vandalism apparently, so very little to do with this one.. It appears to me that he is just daft when he has had too many to drink..
The asshole should be ****ed and burned..with a flare, preferably. What an idiot and all this "He's really a canny lad." ****e makes me sick. Fred West was well liked down the pub and that!!!! Once a cracker, always a cracker!
I am not and cannot defend Dan for what he has done, nor should I. It's honestly not in his nature to be a bad lad, he's not known to the police and couldn't fight his way out a wet paper bag. He's made a monumental error and hopefully he grows up and learns from this.
It pisses me off when I hear all these high and bloody mighty, I've never done a wrong thing in all my life ****es..The lad hasn't bloody committed murder, or even punched a horse for that matter. He has lit a flare in a football stadium, which is bloody stupid in my opinion, but classed as part of the normal routine in many other parts of the world.
Bradford 1985 56 dead - that stupid twat should not be anywhere near a football ground for the rest of his life
not believing in mistakes when a young lad, learning from them, and going on to live a perfectly normal, law abiding life?
10 years or so ago a Welsh fan was killed in the Millennium Stadium by a distress flare fired across the pitch. Could so horrribly have gone wrong for this lad. As keen a fan as he is football could do without him.
How about a punishment that is normal routine in many other parts of the world then? (playing devils advocate)
He is known to the police it states he was arrested for criminal damage whilst at a Sunderland away game in Hull. Shows previous bad character and both were linked to alcohol and attending a football match, obviously the lad can't mix the two
i'm with you on this one....a bit of over-reaction going on here. the lad has been moronic, apologised and accepted his medicine. it was a handheld flare, not one shot from a pistol - if he'd done that he should be put away. the horrific fire at Bradford was down to the old timber frame structure, appalling fire safety and mis-management of the club. the stand was a death trap which very sadly and trajically led to disaster. a somewhat different case here.

I agree, he certainly does need to learn to behave when he's had a drink, or if not, then he needs to pack the drink in. I know he's had bother with the police at Hull, but he's not an active criminal and never has bother any other time.
I am not talking about the circumstances of how Bradford happened what I am suggesting is that because that event occurred in the past and therefore anyone knowing that event had happened and STILL takes a flare into the ground should be banned for life. The dickhead is endangering innocent people and was this the flare that burned the disabled kid? Also why are people saying "the lad" and he's young etc he's f***ing 25 year old
Give people a second chance eh well I say ban him for life from all football grounds if you can't learn from your first mistake he will keep on causing trouble
