QPR manager Harry Redknapp has promised a far stricter regime next season following the club's relegation. Earlier this week, midfielder Stephane Mbia was fined after a message on his Twitter account suggested he wanted to move to Marseille. Redknapp wants a significant change in attitude in the Championship. "There will be a lot of things changing here over the summer. We'll have the players disciplined from the start," Redknapp said. "Maybe we had to pussy-foot around players when I came in because of the situation this season. "If we get the good lads I want in here, they will improve the feeling about the place and the dressing room." Redknapp has suggested there is more chance of Rangers suffering a second successive relegation than bouncing straight back to the Premier League. The manager wants a significant turnover of players in order to challenge in the Championship. Redknapp added: "Getting players out will be difficult, but we're not going to give them away. I want players who want to give their all . I think change is needed. We need to freshen up the squad after a tough season. "You need good characters in the dressing room. We've got some but we've also got some dysfunctional ones too." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22480105
Clearly Bosingwa is one of the dysfunctional players Harry refers to. Who are the others? Hoilett? Traore? I'd love to see his list
Big Fan of HR but this has bloody annoyed me. He should have made the changes when he saw the problems when he came. Its passing the buck when he has been there for the majority of the season. Needs to take some responsiblity. He had guys in the squad who were commited but didnt play them. Surely that would have sent out the right message to the slackers.
I'm depressed after the season we've just had, and every statement and inaction from the current manager alarms me even more. He gives the impression of someone who is not focusing and applying himself fully to the job in hand. I think we've landed another clueless manager to go with our clueless owner. Happy days not.
I have to disagree. Redknapp now has a full close season, pre-season and a long transfer window to come where he can make the changes required. He didn't have that luxury before and rather than create a bigger chasm in the dressing room, he probably felt it necessary to play one or two players he would like shot of. I expect a reasonable clear out but not en masse as some are predicting. We will no doubt get a few hungry players in and they will all train to Harry & his team's style. A new Loftus Road pitch will help us play the sort of football we know Harry likes. We shall soon see those we are unable to get rid of going in the reserves or to some obscure overseas Club on loan. In 'Arry I trust.
I couldn't resist a wry smile. When Redknapp took over he repeated the mantra of being positive that he'd keep the Rs up. Now that he's failed he's suddenly playing down the chances of bouncing back at the first attempt. In fact, he's even suggesting a second relegation is a likelihood. I'd rather hear a bit of fighting talk along the lines of "the Rs are going for it next season, just you watch us!"
Erm... Hardly positive he'd keep us up...! He always stated it was his biggest challenge but he thought he could do it. What would you expect him to say? "We've got no chance?" Now we have a reality check. He's worked with the players for a few months and we are saddled with several lazy prima-donnas. We've played some decent football in many of the games under HR in spite of all this. I'd also like to see a more positive approach but if we can't offload the trouble-makers, we will face a difficult season. A lot of people see this as him taking the easy option but I see it as a no-win situation, for now at least.
OK, fair enough. Not positive, but certainly confident (albeit with caveats about the size of the challenge). Why would I expect him to say "we've got no chance"? A somewhat odd retort, if you don't mind me saying. I don't care whether there's been a reality check or not. A manager is paid an awful lot of money - a drop in pay or otherwise - to succeed, so I want the QPR manager to stay with the fighting talk, if its all the same with you?
HR produced attractive and relatively successful football at Spurs and elsewhere. Are we going to assume that he just lucked out with the squads he had to work with? Or do we accept that the man who is generally rated as the best English manager in the modern game has something to offer our club? I'm not an optimist by nature but even I have to hope that the disappointing six months he's had in charge were irredeemable from the start and that the real Harry Redknapp regime starts here.
at least on the little video sent out with the ST holders renewal message Harold says promotion to be the target. Throws in a few 'difficults' for good measure though. Its a funny little video, obviously shot in some crummy room at the training ground, with him and Clint looking pretty shamefaced whilst pleading for us to splash out on STs for next year (good job on the prices though).
Yes, it's fine by me . However, if we can't get shot of a few numpties it will be very difficult for us, and that's the reality we are faced with. We need hungry players, but with the current crop we will struggle. And "we've got no chance" was not meant to be overly sarcastic; he never once said 'we will stay up' and I think he's played the media game as well as he can, bearing in mind what he's learnt from the squad in recent months. He can't yet say 'we're going for it' until the transfer window is well and truly underway and we see the required player movement.
I'm not aware that I said that Redknapp has nothing to offer the club. I was delighted with his appointment and I'm not displeased that he's remaining for the next season. This doesn't mean that I'm not entitled to offer a note or two of criticism... Or perhaps it does? We're all entitled to our opinions but, unless we are equipped to journey to parallel universes, nobody can say with any certainty that relegation was inescapable with this manager and this squad had there been different team selections, different substitutions, (yes) different luck (if there is such a thing) and different levels of individual concentration at certain periods of certain matches. There has been countless criticism of team selection, substitutions and sometimes tactics made on here by a number of contributors. Results have suggested that selections, substitutions and tactics chosen were insufficient to capture the requisite points to avoid the drop. So, maybe different ones would have yielded different results, better or perhaps worse? Who the fudge knows, it's done now. But I don't agree that the situation was irredeemable from the start, with or without the benefit of hindsight. There were good results against Chelsea, Spurs, Southampton, West Ham and Sunderland that gave promise to staving relegation. Perhaps it was little coincidence that performances and results then fell away with Nelsen departing?
I know but that doesnt mean he gives a ****, it cant be good for team spirit when he has his lunch in his car.
Diakite did while he was playing but theres got to be a reason why hes not in contention. Mbia did until the tweet saga. Plus you have put a lot of effort in and still be the clause of a split dressing room, eg Barton.
