So, from the man who dethroned Liverpool from their position as the most successful team in England to the man who dethroned Liverpool from their position as the best team on Merseyside. Welcome to Manchester United, David Moyes.
Yeh, he really showed those red scousers a thing or too about winning trophies and winning away at anfield.....
Even at such a time as welcoming a new manager after such a big event as Fergie retiring you still talk about Liverpool It says more about you than you will ever admit yourself. If there was ever a time to ignore other teams and focus on things United it is now and yet here you are dedicating most of your OP to Liverpool, in fact you talk more about Liverpool in the OP than you talk about United or Moyes As for the topic, good manager no doubt but you gotta admit he has a hell of a lot to prove.
Not who I wanted (would've preferred Solskjaer) as he's not won anything and I think he's over hyped. Laudrup has achieved more in one season at Swansea with similar funds. But now that he's here I think he needs to be give at least 3 years before anyone judges him (or at the very least 2). I would hate it if we had an AVB situation with him being sacked before he's had the chance to implement his ideas.
But, doesn't David have like the worst record against the top four since time began. Oh, forget I said anything.
Myes just has to be a long term project, if they judged Fergie on 1 or two seasons you would not have had 20 titles, he'd have been sacked. Moyes has to be the same, given time to do what he does best and consistency is the key, Wenger is the exception as he refuses to see the logic in spending now and again on large transfers for key positions, instead he cheaps out every year to the cost of Arsenal fans, they pay the highest ticket prices in the league yet their club spends **** all on players
Yeah he needs time but unlike AVB I can't see him radically changing the way we play, and so unlike Chelsea, the transition should be smooth and not affect our game too much. AVB I think is a top manager and was unfairly shafted by Chelsea as he clearly needed time (2 seasons min) to enforce his ideas but with Moyes not as much will change so he shouldn't need as much time. If in 1 and a half seasons things aren't working out, that will have been more than enough time I feel as the style of play will be similar to how it is now. Also on a side note, even if Moyes did want to change styles dramatically (which I don't think he would want to) I don't think he'd be allowed with Fergie still playing a role in the set up.
I get the feeling ye'll end up 3rd actually behind City and Chelsea, they really missed Aguero for a lot of this season and that hurt them. If Jose comes back to chavsky and the media will have you believe it is true though I am not 100% convinced, then 3rd is likely
I fancy Chelsea for 14-15 but next year I think Utd will do it again. Stupid trying to predict that far ahead I know but just have a feeling about it.
If it was Barcelona you would understand it, they only really have to worry about Real and Jose screwed that pooch with his shenanigan this season so they walked it cos they are that good. United are not in that position, unless City perform badly again and Chelsea don't build on the improvement this season under Jose next season. Fergie is the glue that has got that bunch to where they are, it just imo ain't gonna happen unless Fergie pulls the strings from the back seat for the next season
The whole team is going to fall apart because Fergie isn't manager anymore? Moyes is a quality manager and Fergie will still be about behind the scenes. The players also know they are capable having done it this year. No arguing with what Fergie has accomplished but give some credit to the players! It's them that have to perform on the pitch. It will be a lot closer next year that's for sure though.
Away from home yeah no wins but some hard earned draws he achieved with Everton but they did win a few times at the Etihad, at home they have been so much better against the big teams especially us who have been spanked there for the last few seasons at least even though the score lines have said differently, for now all we want is him to settle in, Rooney situation sorted and "deadwood" cleared while sorting out Midfield and full back positions. Some are predicting he will bring Fellaini and Baines to OT but he obviously respects the club so I wouldn't be surprised if he left them alone.
So nows his chance to win something. His tenure at United will be determined by what he wins in charge of United, not what he didn't win at Everton, although getting Gibson off our hands was like winning a trophy at United.
