I put it on the original Roberge thread but it keeps dropping : SUNDERLAND are busy lining up potential new signings for next season, on the assumption that the club will stay in the Premier League. Paolo Di Canio revealed in the Echo last week that he has not given transfers a second thought as he continues his over-riding mission to save Sunderlandâs Premier League skin. But while that may well be true, it has not stopped the wheels being put into motion behind the scenes. âI havenât thought about transfers yet â absolutely nothing,â Di Canio revealed. âEverything can change at the moment, you can feel safe and then â boom â you can be hit like a hammer. âSo we have to make sure that we are safe first â I canât think about transfers until then.â Nevertheless, although Di Canio might not want to think about future rebuilding while he is pre-occupied with the clubâs survival mission, that hasnât stopped targets quietly being identified and examined and the groundwork prepared for potential moves. Last week, Sunderland confirmed that chief scout Pop Robson, along with several of his support network, would be leaving as a complete overhaul of the scouting side of the club was ramped up. But that does not mean the Wearsidersâ recruitment plans have been put on hold for the moment â far from it. New hands are now on the tiller and they come into the club with ideas of which players could significantly improve Sunderland with several names have already on the list and only awaiting confirmation of Sunderlandâs Premier League status being retained before they are acted upon. Much has been made of potential new director of football, Fifa-registered agent Roberto di Fanti, being unveiled as the man who will work with Di Canio to get the best transfer targets for Sunderland and get the best value for money for them. But, regardless of what role he might take up, the Echo understands it will not be chief scout, with a successor to Robson already identified and ready to come to the club. Sunderland have been linked since Di Canioâs arrival with Lazio defender Modibo Diakite â though the playerâs agent has confirmed there has been no official approach to date â and centre-half Valentin Roberge, who plays for Portuguese side Maritimo. Both are out of contract in the summer, and would welcome a move to England. But these are likely to be the first shots fired in what will be a long close season where speculation can be expected to be rife on who Sunderland might or might not sign. One thing is for certain though â that when Di Canio does turn to the transfer market, and he is expected to have the final say on signings, much of the spadework will already have been done for him and he will have a detailed list to look at Completing medical http://www.rokerreport.com/2013/5/9/4313714/report-french-defender-undergoes-sunderland-medical
Norwich say he signs no matter what division they are in. Done deal. Then again, stranger things have happened. When a player wants to move, he moves. (If he's played agame or not) LOL.
There are two or three Wigan players I would like if they went down, sad for them though I hope they win the f a cup.
I was in a real fix the other day when WWE and Serie A was on the box at the same time. Tough choice all the same, do I watch a blatantly fixed matches, complete with sweaty bodies, ridiculous hair and weird names or watch the wrestling?
Nice to think that a lot of our dealings in the market will be sooner rather than later in this window? x
This must be pure speculation as Paolo states he hasn't even thought of transfers. Just agents and journos firing stuff about. Either that or we are now just signing o'neills old targets for Paolo to work with. Or we just sign whoever without the managers knowledge or approval. Here's hoping it's the first of those three options.
Apparently we will sign Diogo Viana if we avoid relegation, also on a free transfer so it could be a treble signing
havnt watched it yet like, watching the playoffs
Roberge is all but a done deal (Fernandez from Lokeren been in talks) Been given some info that we are trying to talk to a player who plays in Switzerland but wasn't given his name or club. Will try and find out later. Not aware how genuine anyone else that's being mentioned in any threads is. These are 100%.
Can't see Fernandez being free as only signed for Lokeren in January. Not saying he will sign for certain, will depend on a fee being agreed. Just been told that the one from Switzerland players for FC Basel but don't know who he is and coming over early next week. All seem pretty low level signings but canny players at where they are at the moment. Won't break the bank for sure.
