What is it with this forum recently, there seems to be some who think you should have to meet certain criteria to be a city fan. Did you go to every game this season? Did you go to first game at KC? Did you throw you money onto Boothferry Park pitch at half time to pay the players? Did you see John Eyre score in the play offs? Did you see Fettis score against Oxford? Did you throw a tennis ball in protest? Did you throw an orange in celebration? Did you own a tiger print or purple away shirt? Come on people enjoy the good times and welcome the new support or at least think about the bigger picture and welcome the extra revenue we will get through the turnstiles and in the club shop.
its a combination of bitter old fans who dont want to see the club grow, and young kids trying to act cool.... im not sure which is worse tbh
Remember the bad times. You will enjoy the good times x100. The character of this city and our fans makes us unique. New fans should be aware of our past and where we've come from.
Thing is what do we consider a 'newbie' If you've been supporting city for 10 years you've only really witnessed the good times, So are you a glory fan? I went to my first city game when I was 5 (16 years ago) but was only going now and then, First started going regularly in the 2001 season and have been a season ticket holder since 2002-2003, So compared to some I've not been through the really hard times. That said I did rant at someone of facebook who was at the KC for the last game, Wich suprised me because all through my time at school with him he was a leeds fan.
The amount of times i heard "wow look how big that stand is" and "is that guy the manager"? " who is that ginger guy"?
Bad times? Walking down North Rd on a matchday at 2.45 and the streets being almost empty and no signs of any football-related activity. Gates of under 5,000 in a stadium for 42,000. Promotion chances over by Christmas and already out of the FAC. Club running with heavy losses and that sinking feeling.
This'll come out wrong i know, but obviously there's room for all in our broad church. What it needs is a bit of respect from both sides. Longer term, probably older fans have seen more and very different times, but they're history. For better or worse football has changed and it'll be the younger element, possibly with guidance, taking us forward. It's an oddity in football that we don't all necessarily want the same thing, so there should be compromises.
There are MUFC fans that have never know anybody else than Fergie in charge. Ask then, if they knew that not that long before he arrived, they were in the 2nd division. It's just a matter of how long you've been going. I started going 1981 (bad times) and got sick of being told about Waggy & Chillo. You can't help your age.
*you're Fans are fans. There's no difference. People on the other hand, some need to feel better than others all the time, so they try and categorise others, then put them down. If anyone thinks the Man Utds, Real Madrids and Barcas of the world would manage with just the handful (relatively) of fans that supported them when they were **** would be where they are now, you're mental.
I am a Hull City fan. I haven't many 606 points, however: I saw Billy Bly play I have Andy Davidson's autograph I worshipped Waggy and Chilton I saw Chelsea beat Tigers 2-1 at Boothferry Park....a Simpkin wonder goal. I was ejected from Scunthorpe's ground for throwing an orange at Ian McKechnie I've averaged 7/8 games a season since the early 90's despite living in US I was at Wembley to see the play- off final I watched every minute of the magnificant match on Saturday (all be it on US tv) I love Hull City I love the 606 site which keeps me in touch with the supporters and their views
My definition of a glory fan is those who jumped on board this season when it looked likely we was getting promoted and who will just as quickly jump ship if we go down again. All other new fans who stay, welcome.
Tbf my grandma forgets the managers name every ten minutes or knows who has scored straight away, but she hasn't missed a game this season.
