Going to create this thread as a basis to discuss names as and when they are released. Today the official website has announced Suli and Mambo are the first to depart. Suli is no surprise, and I assume the club didn't see enough from Mambo during his loan to warrant the extension. He's also at an age now where he really should be looking to start games and hopeflly he will find a club soon enough.

No doubt. But another factor was that we are awash with centre-backs, four good ones in Morrissey, Cort, Devite and Taylor, and promising youngsters in Feely, Ajayi, Lennon and Osborne, all of whom are probably already at least good enough to sit on the bench if we had an injury crisis.

It is possible that had Mambo played in a different position where we are short of cover, such as RB or LM, he might have been given another year. After all, he is holding down a regular position in Div One at present, which is more than the likes of Wagstaff, Hayes, Lee Cook, Jordan Cook, and Sullivan have managed.

So, right decision to let him go, but not necessarily a reflection on his ability.

I think Billy used to say that Mambo played RB under Mathews in the U18's, though from his build I could never see that being a long term position for him.

Not regularly, definitely not his best position. I haven't seen him play for ages, but I'm sorry to see him go because he was so promising as a 16-year-old. The writing was on the wall when Feely arrived, and the writing was on the wall for Sulli when Button arrived.

Oops! Senile dementia strikes again. Thanks for politely averting you eyes. If all the not606 regular posters chipped in they could send me to a home.

Pleased for him. Shows he is not a complete write-off healthwise, but a bad omen for the club as it means we don't have the money to sign someone of roughly the same standard but without fitness problems.

Of course someone of an even better standard (with a bit of ball control for example) would have been ideal but I suppose that was never on the cards.

Once again, it is a question of bridging the gap until one of our youngsters comes through.

Confirmed today that Fuller,Waggy,Taylor and Kerkar are on their way.

Its a shame about Waggy, but at least giving him a free gives him the best chance of finding a new club.

Don't know the whole story with Fuller. At his best he has been immense, problem is he has also been injured for a large part of the season.I guess this is about budget, could it be better spent with someone who is fitter?

Taylor at his age isn't really going to make the step up and with the emergence of Harriott,Kerkar would only be a fringe player next season.

In the SLP yesterday they say that the club will try to offload Green,Hollands and Stephens and that Fuller might be resigned on reduced wages.

When he is fit he is worth every penny of a high wage, so a low basic wage and then pay for play would seem the best solution.

    Evina rejects a new deal:

"I have turned down Charlton's offer of a new deal and to be honest I am very disappointed with the club," Evina told Sky Sports.

"At this stage of my career I need more security and unfortunately for whatever reason the club cannot do that for me.

"I now have to consider my future and I am keeping my options open."

"At this stage of my career, I need more security..."

    He's 21 and he's done stuff all.

Methinks this young man is being badly advised.

Bye bye, Cedric - hope the grass is greener wherever you're going. :emoticon-0108-speec
