If we play a left back, I'd expect to see Dudgeon start if he's fit. People seem to forget the form he was in at the start of the season, he was electric. But in a weird way, if he hadn't got injured, Brady wouldn't have signed.
Oh yeah, I meant to put left wing as Brady or Aluko. Not sure if he'd be as effective up front next season.
The Dudgeon/Brady partnership is something I'm really looking forward to next season, they are both athletic young lads who can get up and down really well, be great on a counter attack which I can see us doing a lot of next season! We also saw a glimpse of an effective Rossy/Elmo combination yesterday, hopefully we will see more of that next year!
Up front I reckon Aluko and a quality target man (something we have lacked for many seasons) I don't think Prozzy will cut it in the EPL. Crouch like?? Think we need another quality attacking midfielder and a quality holding midfielder and a left back, and CB. And deffo a goalkeeper. No less than 6 new players
Dudgeon was great at the start of the season, i'd like to see him start the next one. Brady can always fall back there, and McShane can fill in - so I wouldn't want to waste resources on a LB (but some cover could be useful). As much as I love Meyler, that formation would be suicide in the Premier League. You need a bit more body to your midfield, i.e. Meyler and another defensive Midfielder (e.g. Evans + a new signing). Also, given that attacking midfielders (Aluko, Boyd, Koren and even Quinn/Brady) are an area where we have a bit more talent, I don't really think we should be spending there. As I said earlier in the thread, I think that you absolutely have to play Aluko and Brady - those are two players that aren't easy to come by, and could potentially really stand out.
The players we should look at if they are relegated Wigan - Maloney, kone, mcmananna, Watson and figeruoa Sunderland - larsson, collback, catermole and Danny rose from spurs Norwich - turner, snodgras, russel Martin, Whittaker and hoolahan Newcastle - most players
Would love to see him in a city shirt. Players of his quality etc... am I being too ambitious? Could we attract quality strikers like that? He did sign for a team that was destined for the drop... Are his wages way to high? I'm not saying we can afford him and will get him etc I'm just using him as an example. What type of strikers do you think we can attract with Brucey? If Wigan go down I reckon there's a few players there we could get.
A bit unrealistic. Remy will end up somewhere like Arsenal You should really look at Jordan Rhodes. If we go up that's who I would want
I think he'll cost too much and will go to an Everton or Spurs if Defoe leaves. I think we'll look at signing one experienced, older prem forward and a striker with a good record elsewhere, but unproven at Premiership level I.E Austin, Hooper if we can afford him.
You would spend 10M on Jordan Rhodes? Admittedly he is a good striker, but not proven at Pl level, Blackburn won't sell for less than what they paid, seem a hell of a lot of money. Remy is far to much to, on at least 50k a week, think we all need to calm down a little.
Remy might be a bit too ambitious pal. He's proved he can score goals in the PL whilst playing for a poor team. He may well stay in England but it won't be with us.
Bruce has already come out saying we will not be signing players for ridiculous prices. Remy is in that bracket. Lets be realistic. Players such as Adam Le Fondre, Billy Sharp etc will be the types of players we will be signing. Lets not get silly here.
Sorry guy's don't know what I was thinking, doh! From what I've seen of him he is class! I'm a little worried that due to our location once again, lack of night life (Jimmy Bullard didn't complain) etc we will fail to sign quality players. Is 50k a week really a lot of money? Admittedly if we splashed that cash on lots of players then that would be pure stupidity although I do think the odd one or two players in key positions in which quality is needed is fine. I think now we have no debt, strong financial backing and a good manager/scout with contacts we have a much better chance of building a better squad than the one that went up in 2008. Lewis
