Re. HCC selling the KC to Hull City. Let's not forget the money flying around for one week a year that goes straight out of the town ! HULL FAIR and the brown envelopes that reputedly accompany it ! This joke of a council are too backward to support local enterprise ! Ask yourself why Siemens are digging their heels in and are falling off the radar . There's a strong smell in this city. Just maybe, the worldwide interest in English Premier League football and all the relevant publicity may be the catalyst to motivate outside interests into the Hull area ! It certainly won't be because of these town fathers but they will claim all the plaudits.
Assem was never really going to spunk £100m on a new stadium, when we already have a perfectly good stadium that costs us next to nothing. That being the case, we're stuck with FC being joint tenants, as they have a long term lease and no money to build their own stadium. Assem was never going to pay enough for the KC to fund a new stadium elsewhere and I don't think FC want to move anyway. Supporting local pubs is a great idea, but pubs have far bigger issues, having people drinking for a couple of hours, once every two weeks, isn't going to save anyone I'm afraid. The fact is, we're staying where we are and so are FC, though I do think there may well come a time in the future, when Assem gets ownership of the KC. Though even if he does, I don't expect they will go anywhere, not unless he buys KR and merges them.
Now we are Premier league will the Allams start pushing the council for the Stadium again?? Must be a massive bargaining tool now, threating to move us away from the City (to Melton). That can have a massive impact on the £100mil which that expert forecasted Premier league football could have on the local economy.
No worries and sadly I think OLM is spot on here despite the weasily words I read today from Brady...
Can't ever see a merger between the RL clubs OLM. However, a new stadium would only be a 14-16K seater and could actually be shared from a RL point of view with West Hull or one of the RU clubs (playing different seasons these days). The cost would be much smaller e.g. St. Helens new Langtree park ground opened last year and built for £30m. There would be a marginal difference to the pubs I grant you, but still some difference if they used the stadium all year round. Just a thought or two...
There's no money in rugby league, Hull FC can't afford to hang up some photographs, never mind build a new stadium. I realise local rivalries make the Hull rugby clubs merger unlikely, but it's the only way they'll really be viable.
if the club does somehow manage to have some sort of sucsess, be that staying in the prem for say 5+ years or staying in the prem and winning a cup or something, the fanbase will increase (call them glory hunters all you want every club need them to grow in stature). if this were to happen (cant see it) the club will need to increase the capacity of the stadium or at least have the option. so unless it all sorts itself out i would say ist best the allams move to a new ground and go ahead with papa allams plans. thats all hypothetical of course and i dont see any of it happening. but if the club is to/does progress it needs to think ahead to these types of situations. the allams are visionaries i tell thee
