Morning Peeps and take a bow, The 2012-13 season is over (finally), and boy, did we see some drama on the final day of the season. The relegation places changed no less then seven times during the 90 minutes.. At one stage even Millwall occupied one of the drap door spots, but it was Peterborough and Wolves who will be playing League 1 football next season. Had we not have won those two games when McDermott took charge (we were on 52 points at the time), things may have been a little different. At the top of the table Hull had a topsy turvey match against the Champions Cardiff which finished 2-2, but the main drama was reserved for Vicarage road where Watfords first choice keeper was stretchered off having collided with one of his defenders following a push by Poleon. Whether this turned the match is anyones guess but the injury meant that the game was running 20 minutes later than all the other matches. The game was in Watfords hands. If they could score a winner, they would leapfrog Hull and be playing Premiership football next season. Alas, it was not to be and with a minute or two remaining Leeds broke free, and McCormack chipped the Watford keeper from 35 yards to take all three points. A lot has already been said about the loanee's Watford have in their squad this season, but they hadn't broken any rules. They simply took advantage of a loophole. I'm sure we would have done the same!!! Who do we think should go up in the play offs, and who deserves to? Our new found friendship with the Hull fans, how long do we reckon thats going to last for? Did Deeney deserve his red card (2 x yellow)? Would you say this was our best performance of the season? Now that it is the end of season, it is time to give the NOT606 awards out. We want to know :- Thread of the season Gaff of the season WUM of the season Funniest NOT606 moment etc, etc Could I have a volunteer to put such a thread in place?
Morning all - I don't want Leicester to go up, I love hearing their fans excuses as to why they miss out despite having so much cash. I don't want Watford to go up with a borrowed team. I don't understand why it is unlimited foreign loan signings and limited domestic? Surely better for the English game it should be unlimited English u23 and a limit on foreign. No difference with what Watford have done and another team loaning 11 players made up from Manchester and Chelsea apart from the fa have made one legal the other not
Morning all Missed the game at the weekend after being away for a mates birthday, but caught up on the highlights last night. That was all pretty dramatic! It will be amusing if Leicester miss out on the playoffs again because of their cash. As for the Watford and loans thing, I agree entirely that the rules need changing, and ristac has it right about allowing more English U23s. It's ridiculous, there are plenty of young promising English players sitting in the development squads of premiership teams who could be getting first team experience. However, I don't begrudge Watford for taking advantage of it, they havent done anything wrong. To be honest if we had done there would have been a lot of talk on here about how clever we were. BUT should Watford go up, I think they'd really struggle in the premiership even if they bought all of those loanees. They'd essentially have to build a new team to stay up I think.
All the goals from our season as frustrating as becchio was he did score and the decision to let him go has turned out poor for all parties concerned http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=tNo7NnavLfc&feature=youtu.be&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DtNo7NnavLfc%26feature%3Dyoutu.be
The friendship ended as soon as the match did. Skip to 5:00 and you'll see
That's gratitude for you, enjoy your one season getting whupped every week in the Prem next season ya set o' ****ing ****s,
Everyone hates leeds scum apparently when in reality they just can't think of any other songs to sing
I think Watford deserve to go up. I've never been a big fan of the play-offs and think the best 3 teams in the league should go up, they finished third therefore imo deserve to go up. Leicester and Palace haven't been consistent enough so I don't think either of them should go up. As for best performance of the season, not even close. We were on the back foot for most of the game, good defensive display though limiting there chances to a minimum.
Aww, come on. Those singing, "We all hate Leeds scum" were just the teenage chavs from E1 anyway. The rest of us we're singing chants that were more celebratory; i.e. "Let's all have a disco", "We are Premier League..." etc etc. Don't take it to heart
Brighton or Palace for me, proper football clubs. Leicester to miss out so their owners can have a rethink about the millions they've lost gambling on a big payday. Wonder how they'll be able to cut their wage bill next season, going to be difficult as their players are on mahoosive wages, e.g. Beckford reported £30k a week. Oh what fun it will be if Leicester fail to go up.
Best performance for me was the FA Cup win over Spurs led by the Welsh Messi. If we played with that commitment, desire and organisation each week we would easily get into Champs Lge never mind promotion. Unfortunately that is the difference between a good player and a top player ... ATTITUDE!!
Honeymoon period was over 5 minutes after the final whistle. Like it or not but they're local rivals. Like Cardiff and Swansea Rangers and Celtic Southampton and Portsmouth Nowich City and Ipswich
Whether they go up or not Watford have big problems next season - if they go up they cannot strengthen their squad because of the transfer embargo that lasts until August 31st, if they stay in Championship they will not be able to rely on loan signings as the rules have changed. If Leicester do not go up they are in deep trouble next season, with the new FFP regulations coming in, they will have to discard a large part of their squad to minimise their financial losses next season.
