    The difference is that duffen thought we could get into europe through league position. Assem is clearly suggesting we can do what swansea have done, got promoted and two seasons later won the league cup and are now in europe next season.....

    Trouble is - Duffen said it when we were in an obviously false position (about 6th in the Prem at the time I believe) and it looked and sounded like a lower league side getting ahead of themselves.

    The league is very different to 2008, and clubs like Swansea and Stoke have proven that teams that have worked their way up can qualify for Europe.

    I don't think Duffen would have been ridiculed if he'd said Europe next at Wembley. Saying it in October was the foolish bit.
