i like his player motivation skills though. I love the line 'no wonder your in the ****ing reserves' in this clip!
you can see why the press love him, whatever people think of his managerial abilities, his ability to deliver a 'salt of the earth, telling it like it is' quote on request is undeniable. How are you doing DT? you were always impressively stoic in the face of doubt, it'd be a shame to lose it. Especially the minerals talk. Thats now become a solid part of my lexicon thanks to you!
I'm hoping the Fulham job becomes vacant soon. It's our only hope.
now now nines, you could damage our loving relationship lol, seriously could you imagine harry working with al fayed? it will never happen, you should bounce back next season, did you hear harry today, to quote him, this squad is not good enough to get out the championship, its not the right balance, if you ask me too many midfielders
Nothing personal FT, but Fulham is realistically the only club he could move to if he wanted to stay in the Prem and live in Sand Banks and maintain his current lifestyle. Trust me, if Al Fayed wanted him he'd be off to SW6.
...and trust us nines, MAF found Hughes unpleasant; he wouldn't touch 'arry - sorry, you're stuck with him (and Rosie)
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Goddamn you, goddamn you all to hell !!! ( Punches sand with fist, as the waves lap up against the shore. )
It is worrying... The majority of 'Arry's success hasn't been silverware, it's been upper mid league. Unless he tilts his MO to mean hungry man with a plan and places to go, my naturally pessimistic eyes can't see further than lower mid to possible drop next year. That's without taking all the pit falls around squad rebuilding into consideration. I reckon we (fans) should stop expecting to bounce back up and dig in for some gruelling times ahead. Convince I'm wrong someone ffs!
We have a squad assembled at vast ongoing expense which he can take his pick of, and a manager who will be paid multiple times more than any other in that division, even after his 'cut'. You may believe that we will struggle next year. I do too. But our expectation and demand must be promotion at the first attempt, anything else will be failure. I agree with Savage, no excuses permissible if we don't achieve this. ****ing Hull City are taking our place (respect to Riccardo though, a most welcome visitor here, congratulations mate).
In the interests of stability and continuity, we have to get behind HR. Yet another major squad upheaval is inevitable, but he's had enough time now to identify the rotten apples, the ones he's had no choice but to work with this time out, and get rid of them over the summer. We should then be left with a core of players he knows he can trust, add to and work into whatever system he sees fit. I do think we'll be left with some decent players out of the wreckage and, as disappointing as most of them have been so far, I don't think you can underestimate the effects of playing in a fractured team. Plus as good as many NPC players/teams may be, we won't be up against the sheer quality we've been up against in the Prem. Maybe HR's record isn't "top, top drawer", but he has managed reasonably successfully for a long time, and maybe this experience, coupled with a desire to prove a point, will see us on the way to better times. Reasonably successful will do for me. Reality bites. As bizarre as some of TF's quotes have been this past week, it's good to finally see some anger and admissions of failure. If we haven't learned from these last two seasons we truly will deserve all we get. There's no denying his passion or hurt. Put both to good use going forward, then next time we're here we'll be all the better for it. I really don't think we'll do a Wolves. Jez Moxey is only now having his reality bite, and as underwhelmed as some are with HR, does anybody really think he's going to do worse than Solbakken did at Molineux? Maybe not convincing, but hopeful. What else do we have?
Haven't forgotten you were the only one on our initial 'Harry' thread who clearly expressed strong, rational reservations. (Very Hitchens-esque if I may say, where 'Arry' is a fallible God personified and the rest of us his disappointed flock left scratching our heads!) Agree with your comments here but will probably keep my demands for the club's resurrection separate from my pessimistic expectations. Personally think Hull have done great since they emerged from the doldrums of the lower leagues. Kept themselves in the mix haven't they? Just hope we can do the same from now on. Echo your sentiments re. Ric. Great character in the DL mold.
Hi Battersea ... Yes even I had to crumble into powder but stand solid inside knowing that our/this team can play albeit not for more than 25 minutes a match yet ... a mighty weird time for sure but I concede now that QPR have to build its soul again ... e played a very controlled game yesterday but won't be able to do that in the Championship ... but I am looking forward to it
I like to think I stood firm with SB on this. Good news for Hull but of course we have to all think that they won't survive ... Brighton will if they get up but football will eat itself again and Leicester will more than likely follow them up
Good summary eloquently put as ever Tel. Even so, not sure how to do hope atm, it being so long an' all... Your quote in bold italics is good thinking and well worth highlighting: key to our demise and something I'll be reflecting on as summer turns into next season. Absolutely central to whether 'Arry's mechanics can get the old bus fired up for the long journey ahead. Expect plenty of pops, fizzes, stalls and restarts along the way! ------------------------- Footnote. Good to see you back (though it's clear from your comments elsewhere you've been, as you say, 'lurking'). I know you were/are one who was less than impressed with my over-liberal mod-lines last summer and since. Thought we'd managed to turn the main antagonists round tbh, only for them to prove you right and me wrong. Great stuff. Apologies for trying to appease the cronies and not taking a more jugular approach. Note the use of third rather than second person though. Still not convinced it's just the one shape-shifter. The amount of time, energy and dexterity of character portrayal involved is too manic for one as staid as me to even begin to contemplate.
Just have to say I'm disappointed in his player motivation skills everybody are raving about. He just keep telling the press our players are bad footballers. It is true but I don't see any motivations skills there, I mean how could that help the players to become better?
100% correct Pirata ... imagine what a foreign manager would do with this lot.. Harold is a ****ing old English Dinosaur ... i like him off the pitch don't get me wrong he is a great character but I don't like what he has done here for our club whatsoever ... Hughes tried being a super coach but clearly didn't have it either ... I want a good French/Spanish/German coach at LR someone who understands today's football ... but that's not going to happen so I am 100% behind our club ... i have to be... I am a QPR supporter
Believe me, I take no pleasure in his failure, and was actually warming to him until we lost those three games over Christmas - Newcastle, Liverpool and West Brom. Just 3 points from those would have set us up totally differently for the New Year, but we were abject in those games. Now we have him for another year, and the only measure of success has to be promotion. I would prefer, like you, to go the French/German/Spanish route and build for 3 seasons. Accoutrema!! Eat the food Tina......idiot!
Can someone explain to me please what the point was of playing Zamora yesterday or for the rest of the season? Surely if he really is a key part of Harold's planning for at least a part of next season and then only for 45 minutes per game)he should have been packed off for his hip replacement as soon as Wigan equalised against us. This clueless decision yesterday adds to the many reasons for my belief that he will not take us back up. How about a good Argentinian player. Pedro mendoza anyone or how about Sol Cambell again to solve our defensive problems. AlL I see is a succession of new recruits from the legions of Harold's tried and trusted purchases and none of them under the age of 40.
