We were one point ahead of Hull at best. They were seven points clear on two occasions (before and after that). They've had a stronger claim on second than us all season. We only got up there because of a fantastic run. We dropped back to where we came from after a poor run. Swings and roundabouts - we've ended where we've been most of the season - in the play-off zone. Blow this lifeline? Everyone knows the play-offs are a lottery. We're also far from favourites too. I personally wouldn't consider this season a failure if we don't go up. I'd consider it a magnificent achievement if we do. Can't believe you've managed to put a negative slant on such a fantastic day. Perhaps you should change you're outlook. Instead of expecting success and getting angry at failure, try being the opposite way around - most teams achieve nothing when you think about it. Expect disappointment and day's like today fill you with joy. Or you could carry on expecting success, ending up depressed and angry after every defeat and calling for a perfectly good manager's head.
I always believed with you Ed !! (ps...I knew...just damn well knew someone would find something to put a downer on todays achievment...get a gripp ffs !!! ENJOY!)
We have 2 tough games against a very good Watford team, so lets not pat ourselves on the back just yet eh, 3 wins in 17 games is nothing to get excited about, our form has been woeful yet we still scraped the playoffs, how lucky are we??, were in with a chance, and that is all we could have asked for i guess, but were a long way from achieving anything, staying calm a bit longer is the order of the day
Good morning. I must say that was a **** 2nd half of the season & things will have to change for next season (regardless of the lge we are in) I will admit I never thought we would win (v Trees) & have other res´s go our way. Looking forward to the P.O´s now. "UTF"
Abit ****ed off you lot went up.... ... WHY ? because I doubt I´ll get a ticket for a prem game now when I come over in August. Still I can always drive the other direction from Filey & watch Midles´boro "what no fans" . Scar´boro should be good too now they´ve gone up. "CONGRATS BTW ST"
Can't see how I've put a negative slant on anything ... I'm chuffed to bits - but realistic As to 'expecting success' I've supported the City for probably more years than you have been alive and have never been put off by disappointment or failure; of which I've seen plenty - part and parcel of supporting LCFC. You seem to be oblivious to the obvious - we blew an amazing opportunity for automatic promotion and went on a run that exceeded the poor runs that cost the two previous managers their jobs - sackings of which I was against as my posts on this board evidenced - so another of your points about being angry and depressed at every defeat and calling for perfectly good manager's heads is also way off mark ... and finally - we WERE pre-season favourites with many of the bookmakers ... mostly because it was common knowledge that our owners were happy to support a 'promotion budget' - something that has had many posters from other clubs on our board accusing us of trying to 'buy success' ... 'Everyone' might say that the play-offs are 'a lottery' but frankly that is clichéd rubbish - they are no different to any other footie matches (particularly two-legged semi finals of cup competitions) - it's a four team mini- league now ... so don't start trying to make excuses for failing in advance - let's just hope we don't - Zola got his tactics right against us the other week and we looked distinctly second best - let's just hope that a combination of Watford's disappointment yesterday and that Nigel has learnt something from that recent game is enough for us to beat a team that has done the double over us this season. If we don't win the play-offs (or at the very least get into the final) then I think our owners will look for a new manager - whether that is right or wrong is irrelevant - it's just what I think will happen - they are, first and foremost, businessmen ....
