PETER ODEMWINGIE STILL ON QPR RADAR

QPR boss Harry Redknapp will not sell players on the cheap despite QPR's relegation

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has admitted the days of bringing in players on huge salaries are over.

But he revealed yesterday they may renew their interest in West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie, who famously drove down to Loftus Road on January transfer deadline day, desperate to make a big-money move.

Fernandes hopes that Chris Samba and Loic Remy will stay and help the club make an instant return to the Premier League under Harry Redknapp.

But he said: "If Chris wants to stay with us and believes in what we are trying to do, I would like him to be one of the pivotal points of the Championship side.

"If he doesn't feel it is right for him, I don't want to force him to stay - I'd rather get someone who is excited about playing for us.

"I don't want anyone who doesn't want to stay. The days of bringing in players because of their names, who are just coming to QPR for the salary, are gone.

"We want players who are excited about walking out of that tunnel and playing for us.

"There is no pressure to sell anyone. Some players will want to move on, though.

"Harry has gone on record and said he would like to get Peter Odemwingie again. We have got to see if the numbers make sense.

"Never say never and it depends on what West Brom want to do. Harry likes him."

Redknapp has told any clubs interested in his players that they will need to put up or shut up.

Goalkeeper Julio Cesar is a target for today's opponents Arsenal.

But Redknapp warned: "Our goalkeeper is a top, top goalkeeper who wants to play in the World Cup for Brazil.

"And if Real Madrid or someone come in for him, we want his value for him. We are not going to give him away."
