Morning Y'all, Thank goodness its Friday.... Last game of the season tomorrow. What is everyone goig to do to keep themselves occupied over the Summer months? Is anyone fed up, and cannot wait for it to end? Anyone going down to Watford tomorrow? Surely we don't want Hull to go up. Its cruel on the youth of today letting them think that Hull are a big club??? I'm working tomorrow, is anyone else??? McDermott has confirmed that he will announce a retained list after the weekend. I can only think of half a dozen players I would keep. I can think of 7. Diouf Byram Lees Peltier Warnock McCormack Dawson Am I being too harsh? Have I missed anyone out? I cannot think of any of our current midfielders (apart from Dawson, and maybe Thompson). Well done to the Leeds ladies who beat Man City's ladies 2-1 at ER yesterday....
Morning all - I think BMD's retained list will be a lot larger, he won't want to put himself in a position that Warnock did in having to call transfer listed players into the squad. His official retained list will probably be a lot larger than the one in his head
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooodddddd morning VietLeeds. What a fine day it is. "Parole Board" have met & I'll be moving on to a different job imminently. So definitely in happy mode. Off to Septicistan (aka America) to carry the bosses bags around for two weeks as she goes & meets family she hasn't seen for 40 years. So all is well in life. Only downside is that I couldn't get a ticket for the Watford match. C'est La Vie. To more pressing matters. I also think BMD's retained list will be a bit longer. In addition to: Diouf, Byram, Lees, Peltier, Warnock, McCormack, & Dawson, I would add Ashdown, Brown, Norris, Green, Austin, Varney, White, possibly Pearce, Somma on a short term contract to allow him time to prove his fitness, and Morison to give him the opportunity to prove why he should be retained.
Morning all, and congrats Boggers you probably struggled with tickets as I think half the ground is closed! Something like a 17k capacity at the moment I think. Tomorrow I will be watching the match then i'm off to Surrey for my sisters 40th so it should be a good day. Oh, half a day today. Beer to be drunk and food to be burnt
I don't think anyone thinks Hull are a 'big' club in terms of history, but we're undoubtedly the best in Yorkshire at the moment, and arguably have been overall for the for the last 5 or 6 years. If the situation was reversed and we had an opportunity to send you or any other Yorkshire club to the Prem, I'd be rooting for you. You've got a proper manager now, so as long as you can stop flogging your best players for one season you stand a chance at promotion next season. Here's hoping you smash Watford tomorrow. Do it for Yorkshire.
I love your avatar/screen name! Great play on words that I got a feeling we will draw tomorrow, so it will be in your own hands!
Morning all. Hull need promotion badly for financial reasons, however the danger is they will do a Pompey ... just as QPR and Wolves are about to do. It is very hard for clubs like Hull to sustain a Prem place, and relegation always causes misery for the clubs with smaller support. Wolves are on the brink, they are still carrying big wages that won't be sustainable in Lge One. For me, clubs like Hull should be focused on being a solid Championship club, and if they do go up they should save their money and get relegated with wads of cash to plough into their academy. If they can do this regularly over a period of seasons maybe they can fashion an extended stay in the Prem. Charlton are a good example, played the yo-yo club for a bit, saved their cash, and when they felt they were very stable splashed a bit in the Prem and stayed a while. Then the board got a bit silly on the management front, they believed the club was bigger than it actually was, and when relegation finally followed they kept rolling into Lge One and had to start all over again. The Prem wages in the Championship destroyed their bank balance, and they are still in recovery mode a few years on. It really is dicey this "promised land" vision owners of Championship clubs have, but there are very few success stories following relegation. The bottom half of the Prem is now so poor that clubs like Hull and Cardiff will have a slightly better chance of staying up, but that increases the damage relegation does because each season in the Prem sees more players in the squad on silly wages. How good things would be if there wasn't the ridiculous Sky money! As for retaining players for next season, I feel that Pearce and Morison are both very good players at Championship level, and under Baldy they will flourish next season. It is clear that Colin was poison in the dressing room, and he failed to get the best out of our players. His public attack on Lees was despicable, and that showed me Colin was taking the piss. Three results and we would have been in play offs, and its easy to look back and see the games we should definitely have taken points from that were dropped because players were not playing for the "manager". At least with McDermott the match ball is getting some grass stains on it now, instead of the forwards having to chase Brown's "passes" for 40 yards until they run over the dead ball line!!
Not sure mate, I saw something on a Watford thread. Ground improvements/repairs maybe?? Think its 17,000 Capacity tomorrow
Just keeping our best players next season won't get us promoted even with the best manager in world.. Morning all
Green is massively underrated IMO he works hard and has the ability just continually played outta position
Morning All Great to see Bradford lost to Burton last night, let's hope Burton make their play off finals and spoil Bradford's season. I think the retain list will probably have about 12 players on, I think 7 is cutting it a bit fine and 16 as Boggers suggested is a little too much. The squad need whole sale changes for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the midfield see the most changes in the summer.
Morning, If I were manager my retained list would be: Ashdown Peltier Byram Drury Warnock Lees Pearce Green Austin Hall Dawson Morison Poleon McCormack Everyone else I would sell, however we know we can't sell Brown. Thats a retained list of 14, I wouldn't try to completely redo the squad but add considerable talent to it. On a seperate note, Burke has signed a one year extension at Birmingham which is disappointing because I wanted us to sign him in the Summer
