Linked with a central defender who is also the top goal scoring defender in La Liga! looks like another free transfer and he is also being chased by QPR, intresting one this, looks a very useful player but his age could be a sticking point, he is 30yrs old. Tells me we are just looking for the finished article nowadays and it also begs the question as to why Mark Gower said Laudrup "didnt like players over 30" Here is the link http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...-Inigo-Lopez-as-next-Spanish-Swansea-ace.html
If ash goes, we are going to need to sign two defenders imo. so if he is good for a couple of years dont see an issue.
Personally i think he would be great back up to Ash and chico, bartley seems to be nowhere near the first team these days, considering the boy has all the attributes thats a real shame.
A 2/3 year contact for a thirty year old shouldn't be a problem. Sad to read Gower's comments. I can understand his disappointment, but keeping his mouth shut was a better option. There are a lot of player's being "linked" with The Swans' at the moment. But that's all they are until they sign on the dotted line. It should be an interesting June/July.
Handy player. Segio Ramos was the second highest goal scoring defender behind 6ft1" Lopez. Reading are also interested as are several German clubs. I guess Laudrup is looking to strengthen the squad for Europe so he's not necessarily a replacement for Ash. If we got him, that's three centre backs with maybe Bartley making the fourth. I'd love to know the story with him. As for Gower and the "30" issue, perhaps Laudrup, ever the diplomat, said that just to spare his feelings. Better for a player to feel he's not wanted because of his age rather than because the manager thinks he's crap!
Well I shall be contemplating all these rumours in June on my sun bed in the South of france, at St-Raphael, hope you all behave in my absence!........... please log in to view this image
This player looks good and if im honest i really dont want to see Tate or Monk with the Swans shirts on next season so if its cover im happy but if its a replacement i hope to see some more signings for this position.
Hell we had some great summers back in the 60's growing up in Skewen, can remember climbing Drummer Mountain many times, playing in the world war II bunkers up on top, and walking the length over to Birchgrove, sometimes we would go the other way and come down through the forest at Duffryn!...................
Enjoy, Phil. My first ever trip abroad as a youngster was with my family by car (Triumph 2000) to Frejus right by St. Raphael. The French Riviera was still a "glamour" destination in those days, mostly unspoilt and undeveloped. St. Tropez, St. Aygulf, Monte Carlo, Cannes, Nice, these magical names tripped off the tongue and we visited them all. Horrendously expensive I recall. I stayed in the area about two years ago at Menton and was so disappointed. There were new housing and hotel developments everywhere, high rises, shops, caravan parks, holiday camps and lots and lots of traffic with the resultant traffic jams. It was a total let down and we left after three days. They say never go back and in this case it was true. I'm sure you will enjoy anyway but, if you PM me, I can let you know a truly beautiful part of France with miles and miles of white, sandy beaches, gorgeous country coastal scenery, blue sea, marinas, fishing ports etc etc. It is unspoilt, relatively inexpensive, with loads of free parking and little traffic. The best part is that the area has remained almost undiscovered by the tourist hordes. We go regularly. Last year when we were there for two weeks, I saw just three GB plated cars and heard English spoken on only one occasion. Bliss.
spent alot of my time running up drummer mountain, it was one one my training runs, taking the dram road and running all the way up and back again..stopping off where there used to be a spring and taking in water! would spend alot of time with my uncle and his gun dogs as well, watching him train them ..my uncle and my brother both lived in penshannel, skewen
Ivor I know the area well, and I know the traffic issues particularly during July and August, it's insane, hence why we are going in June. The actual spot we are staying is quite quiet, (Agay). We also know the liguria coast well to, all the way down to Genoa!.................
... Init ! my other uncle and aunt live just by Skewen Park and my sister in law is also Skewen born and bred, my Gran lived in a cottage on crymlyn road where my mam was brought up so Skewen was always a cycle ride away
This is getting even more spookier I went out with a girl from Penshannel for 4 years before I went to college - used to go for long walks up Drummau mountain
