Now first off, Llambias - ******. Ashley - has a LOT of work to do to even make me forgive let alone forget the **** he's done.

BUT I'm genuinely pleased with the club at the moment for a couple of reasons:

    1) they're stand on greedy players. Players asking for too much money simply get told "No" from the club who last year transfer listed Taylor for being greedy (only for him to do a U Turn eventually), stood their ground with Judas and from it made arguably one of the best profits ever and now telling Barton "Ummm, nah if you won't sign now there is no contract on offer" which I'm sure will end up with Barton agreeing to the clubs terms and signing.
NUFC know that there aren't really any bigger clubs than us who would even consider Barton and he wouldn't be welcomed many places (prob at Everton only) so it's either us or out the country really.
I love the idea that they're basically telling players "if you love it here so much, you'll accept our fair offer and not be greedy." Yes we lost Carroll for it but in all honesty how badly did that affect us?

    2) Our transfer policy.... Now personally I feel Ashley has an agenda, hidden or not, to move quickly for some of Europe's brightest talents, play them, knowing that they're good enough to see us comfortable or in the top 10 and sell them for good profit. Greedy yes, but it can only benefit us. I mean if every year we're signing 3-4 young kids who are quality then for 2-3 years we have them they will only make us better and who knows, we may become good enough that they won't want to leave.
Ashley clearly wants to adopt an Arsenal approach to unearthing hidden gems early and cheaply and Graham Carr seems to have the ability to do it too. Only difference is Ashley has no real interest in keeping them and building a squad for the future but rather sell on and start the process again every couple of years. Whatever though, that strategy is good enough to make us improve year on year.

Oh and 3) I genuinely believe this job will be the making of Alan Pardew. He plays a good brand of football, the transfer rumours at the moment she he clearly likes to play good attacking football and bring through youngsters and given time I think he's about to develop into the manager a lot of people thought he would a few years back.

So yeah, I'm pretty happy at the moment. And if Enriques not, he can **** off

  2. I've got my own opinions about the fat ****s in charge of our club, but i'll reserve judgement on Pardew, and the club itself for the transfer window, this will be my last test to see if the club will actually start to go in the right direction.

I'm really quite annoyed at the club, we're being unreasonable with Barton who wants to stay, then rejecting approaches for Enrique who wont even speak to us and we're bidding 10mil for a player who wants to play in Spain.

    Yeah.

Apart from that it's all looking rosy though.

I expect Barton to sign after some more mediation and they will reach a compromise of a 3 year deal with an option to extend for another year after year 2.

Enrique will be looking at who is coming in and if decent enough to increase the overall quality and strength will sign.

As for the player who wants to play in Spain? Christ knows but if we can show him our intent to improve and ambitions for the future then he may just change his mind and see us as a very viable option.

That would be ideal, right now I want to see us priotise keeping our current players before making early signings, not a lot of players will want to change clubs so soon after the end of the season anyway.

  6. There are some good points to what the club is trying to do, and i'm glad, but i doubt that the motives are for anything other than financial gain for the owner.

I think those 2 go hand in hand though in the sense that if Enrique/Barton et al see us move and sign someone like Gameiro or Menez who will have interest from other clubs it will persuade them that the ambition is there and they're more likely to sign.

True, might just be a matter of trying to force through deals early on. Get that money spent wisely and they'll be begging to stay <ok>

If this Abeid guy is really good, then Ben Arfa and Tiote will tell the squad that we have brought in a top young player and they might see it as an early sign of intent. Wonder what sort of role he'll play next season.

Yep, I think that's probably what Pardew is thinking and why we are moving so quickly this year. Or appear to be anyway according to numerous tweets and online articles etc.

OP I think you could be right about Pardew. I think he more than anyone else has realised just how good it would look on him if he got us right up there challenging again.

Gameiro hasn't said he didn't want to play here, he just said he'd rather play in Spain.
If he had two decent seasons with us and Real Madrid came in with 25m, it would be a excellent profit.(It happened to Lassana Diarra)

We might be in Europe then and can push forward, but one thing I don't want is another change in manager. We need to take Everton's approach and keep Pardew here for a while. In 6-7 years time maybe Champions League won't be far off :)

Yep, I genuinely think that given the time then Pardew will shine here. He came in under a cloud, I think has definitely won over the majority of fans, got the team playing well with some good football and with a small squad. He did what he had to do and that was maintain our position and keep us safe. Now he should reap the benefits in the transfer market and I really do have complete faith in him.
He's brought through Ferguson and really built his confidence up in the media with his praises, he challenged Taylor to shine in the press and he had an excellent end to the season. He did the same with Leon Best, so his man management seems to be superb... Newcastle could very well be his time to shine.

Plus if his half time team talk at the Arsenal game was "I'm not changing anything, I'm not taking any of you off, you got us into this mess now you get us out of it" then that really is legendary lol.

Personally I'd way prefer us to have just payed Barton/Enrique/Carroll the extra 10/20 grand a week.
If we want a top 8 finish we're gonna need quality.
    We can't sell our core.
    Splash out i say.

That's anywhere between £1.5m - £3m per year just for those 4 players alone, and then what happens when we sign new players or it comes to new contracts for players like Tiote, Saylor, Nolan, Colo etc.... they're all going to want the "new" wage cap. You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and if it is £50k p/w then that's still a good premier league salary.
