My wife had a Skoda until recently - nothing wrong with them except for bits falling off every so often.

We're still wondering where the gearbox disappeared to.....:(

Found out this morning that I've been lucky enough to get a ticket for Saturday (somewhere in the Lower Rous) - am currently planning how best to get down there. All I know is that it won't be by car.

Maybe now is not the best time to mention that my last visit was a disaster of a match against Palarse three years ago & the two before that weren't much better....... :(

Great news for you BB, really very pleased for you. <ok>

I wouldn't worry about bringing bad luck with you. One of my infrequent trips had me seeing us lose to Palace, but both games this season have produced wins.

Interesting as I 'assumed' the rules were already being changed mainly due to this article http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-boss-malky-mackay-2520856 - Nothing personal, I hope they are changed, the Championship needs to be developing home grown talent.

    Good point <ok>

Sorry totally wrong - You are able to exploit a loophole because of your owner and his connections, what other club in the Championship could do the same?

Any club could have approached any other club and set up an agreement where they would loan players back and forth for experience. It's just that nobody before us had the brains to look into it or attempt it. The favoured method was to throw millions at new players and hope they worked out, if not then they wrote the money off and tried again. The problem is, that method is very risky, as many clubs are now finding. They are playing huge wage bills but earning championship, or less, money. That's simply not sustainable, especially not with the new FFP rules coming into force. Clubs won't be able to run at a huge loss and have massive debts. It will result in points being deducted.

Great thread Dan (although I hope you don't get the opportunity to do another one over the next few weeks). <ok>

I don't think I've ever been this nervous before a home game.

Actually not wrong at all, the so called 'loophole' we apparently 'exploited' was the unlimited amount of foreign loanees we recruited. Something any club in this division could have done.

The fact all of ours where from our two sister clubs has nothing to do with this.

    Apple sauce bitch.

Of course it has, no way would you have signed the likes of Matej Vydra otherwise so please do not delude yourself <ok>

My original post on the matter was my own opinion that Hull are more deserving to go up because they have actually constructed a team of players over a team of loan signings.

I scream and complain just as much when Leeds bring in 4 loan signings, would I swap positions with Watford right now? Of course I would but I would still feel it was wrong.

Loan signings should be scrapped completely for everyone, it would mean more young talent dropping out of the premiership and into the championship and likewise out of the championship and further down the divisions.

Now I don't want to turn this into an argument about loan players so I will say no more <ok>

Watford are at the forefront of developing home grown talent - we have one of the best academies in the country and look after our young players superbly. In fact it fits in beautifully with the Pozzo family philosphy which is to develop young talent to then sell on at a profit to sustain progress rather than use debt which so many clubs do.

You cannot describe something as a loophole if the FL went out of their way to design it that way - they set a limit on domestic loans but deliberately defined foreign loans as transfers as they in their wisdom wanted to allow unlimited foreign loans. Now you can argue all you like about whether you like what they did but you cannot describe it accurately as a loophole nor criticize a club who wants to use their rule. Any other club can arrange as many foreign loans as they please - they don't all have to come from clubs owned by one family - that is the only "oddity" here

Given that Vydra was a young player without a lot of experience then there is no reason why any other English club WHO COULD HAVE IDENTIFIED HIM could not have borrowed him. He was unhearad of at the start of the season. This is why good players get loaned out - to improve and develop them. We borrowed Ben Foster from Man U a few years ago to great effect. The fact is that there is a lot of young talent in other clubs available for loan if you care to find them. Hull themselves have found a couple of Egyptian loanees.

In fact had our owners taken over Watford with a little more time to spare at the beginning of hte season they have said that many of the loans would have been made signings - but they took over too late to organisz it that way. Had they done that would you now be saying what you are or would you be congratulating Zola on putting together such a force with so little time to prepare?

Cardiff with their £80m could certainly have bought all our loan players with cash to spare - would you have complained about that.

You present your views politely and well ristac so do say more if you have more to say - the forum thrives on good debate.

I agree.... .there are different views and that is it...

I was amazed when I saw how many loan players we had imported and sad for our own players from before..... BUT the big BUT..... is it is not the loans that made it work BUT the manager........

On the point of foreign loans versus bought team players... it is a fine line.... Man C won the league on bought players..... because they had the dosh to do it.... now I don't like them for that but they could do it. If we get promoted on loan players .. .same difference really.

Same reason I don't support Crawley who came out of the non-league with bought in players.... their chairman had the dosh...

I don't "Like" the idea of money buying success ... as I am a bit of a leftie when it comes to football.... but that is the harsh reality.

And look at what happened to Leeds because of money....... they went downhill fast when the money dried up.

So at the moment Watford have a bit of money and with a great manager we are doing well.... so be it.....

The reality is next season we wont have so many loanees whatever happens...

Ristac, the point about youth development is one that us Hornets take very seriously.

There was very little opposition to the Pozzo takeover. Discomfort, reservation, unease, yes, and from quite a lot of people, but very few would have taken Bassini over them. But the one overriding concern was the opportunity for our brightest and best to come through the ranks. Jonathan Bond, Connor Smith and Tommie Hoban have all played more games than they could have dreamt of under Sean Dyche, evergreen Lloyd Doyley has played his usual 30-odd games, and Sean Murray has been given numerous chances to hold down a place. Thompson and Hodson have played a bit as well.

As long as players of that calibre continue to get a chance, I'm happy. If they succeed, great. If they don't make the required standard, we at least gave them the opportunity, and they will probably go on to add their names to this list.
