C'mon guys - lets pick up Alonso in the summer - he still loves the club and hasn't lost any of his pace at Real. Perhaps if Reina is off in the summer we could pick up Iker Casillias from Real too, as a job lot...

To be fair, that's like saying Thomas Gravesen didn't lose any hair while he was at Real.

  11. Experience does not always mean older players. Eriksen, Bale, Suarez when he joined etc are / where all expreinced players but they are / were 23 or under.

    True.

Older players at small clubs can have less experience than young players at bigger clubs.

  15. Exactly. But then, just because we are not in Europe and have to look around for players does not mean we have to buy from 'smaller' clubs. We can take the Suarez approach and buy from a CL club that are in a 'lesser' league, aka Eriksen from Ajax (I don't expect this to happen, purely an example).

I think Williams would be a good player for us, he is the type of defender we need. However, he will be far too expensive and he lacks experience despite being too old for our recruitment policies!

Cabaye and HBA straight swap for Spearing and Carroll? ...

    Sure! <ok>

    #1517
  18. Despite the complaining I have done about HBA, I would be very happy with that swap <ok>

Exactly what I was thinking, whilst HBA isn't everyone's favourite cup of tea he'd still be a old addition to the squad.

If we do pull something like that off (I don't think it will btw) then we really would have got our own back regarding the Carroll saga.

Cabaye + Hatem for Carroll and Spearing, including the 6-0 defeat that could potentially send them down ... Yes please! <laugh><ok>

well.... ok so lets think about it.. spearing for anyone... that sounds ok to me. if jay needs that move cos rodgers doesn't rate him we simply must let the lad go. lets face it we are not talking about a top 4 player here we are talking about a squad player so aside from the obvious wishing a local lad would play for us we need to look at warnock and guthrie and way that Jay deserves to make the most of himself

Then there's the whole hba thing. If we did do a no cash swapse for carroll and spearing for cayabe and hba i'd be happy as in theory we could do this in may and get it done.

HOWEVER. lets see who goes down cos then this is moot.

my main thing here is will we buy early or have to wait for carroll money. I fear we spent our summer money in january.. just hoping thats not the case.
