Haha, no not really! He has had plenty of time, but I have seen things in him that are positive and as someone else said on this thread - we have other players who should be the priority to get rid of. The likes of Bosingwa, SWP, Hoilett need to go first.
Apart from your comment on Bosingwa I agree with that, good post. For me the players we need to sell if we can are the old ones who are clearly past it, definetely Park and Ferdinand, probably Zamora, Johnson, Samba, Cisse, Barton, Luke Young, Cesar, and Green. We need new more stable younger Keepers, and younger hungry strikers.
Trouble is we are the only ones who will sign old past it players and give them a fat contract. No one will want them. Cant believe you didnt mention Boswanka in your list.
That boy just needs to get his arse in the gym, work on his upper body strength and do some solid plyometric work to speed him up, easy! Maybe I should offer my services to the club and move back, my personal trainer rates are very reasonable.
Think we should keep him TBH, I personally backe dhim and he has been a disapointment of the major oreder this season, but he has shown he has the skill & ability we thought he had. Why he's been so poor is anyone's guess & I for one am not gonna make excuses for him. He looked good in fleeting games alongside, Furs & with Adel, but being as its mainly me banging on about consistency, them G-man just aint done it. I think we will have enough trouble getting rid of the rest of our over age & over rated players. Also, we arent exactly going to attract the likes of the top players, following what we achieved the past two seasons. He could be a good squad player in a team that plays football the right way? Him, Jenas, Faurs & Mbai would make a good group as I dont think we're hampered by the 25 man rule in the NPC? Throw in Onuha, Harriman and dare i say, maybe even Adel, and the average age of the team drops dramatically. Could be a new recipie for a new start. Of course people are gonna moan if we dont go out, win every game & get straight back up. But with a new younger team we may get back up AND stay back up AND have a bit of pride & passion back at our club AND a team worthy of our/your support! Of course if HR wants him gone, then so be it.
Pretty much agree QL. No denying he's been a major disappointment this time out but he's shown enough, albeit patchily, for us to give him a go in the NPC. I'd say he needs to speed up his distribution. The one thing apparent from Townsend and Remy's time with us is that speed and intent going forward is crucial. Early season we did a lot of the "pretty passing, going nowhere" thing with predictable results. Moribund. I think the pair of them introduced a vitality we lacked and we would do well to learn from this going forward.
I feel the same way about Hoilett as you do about Granero. Whilst I acknowledge that Hoilett has been absolutely awful, I feel that is a temporary blip in confidence. He could be electric in the NPC if he regains that confidence.
A lot of good debate in this post. I think we are all, mostly, keen to give the younger players another chance to show what they have. We still need some older (experienced) heads in the team - but not the crocks that we have purchased before. A few new faces are bound to come in - especially with Harry - who will hopefully have the impact that Townsend has had. Surely a group of players cannot under perform on such a grand scale again. We do have a nucleus of good players. As we have said so many times - not a team. The criticism of our players - by so many professionals, pundits and press - must be ringing in the ears of many players right now. Many points to prove. But my optimism for next season is growing already (albeit at a slow pace).
Granero didn't click but he is QPR I simply don't buy into the whole rubbish on here that we have a squad of misfits ... Keep the quality maybe a few fresh faces ... I was thinking on the flight home last night we should feel strong to take on the Championship . A few ****s have been said but we have a talented squad and I think we should keep them . I have to accept Harold and get on with it now as we all do . Hope we all see the worth of this squad and hope bullshitter can turn this lot into a team on his second attempt rather than mud slinging This set of players including Granero are too good and will have to lreran the hard way again ... Good for them We were rubbish and this is a dream team for the Championship IMO Watch the league finish off now as I have always said a few points will separate 17th and 9th.. Next year a couple of team will also struggle badly Norwich? and two of the promoted teams ... In the meanwhile we have no excuses to become super strong and keeping our quality players will be key When we return as a team We will catch them all Look at how WBA had to do it
No. Bosingwa has been one the very few players who has been consistently good all season. He should be pushed hard to take a pay cut, but if he does that he has the quality we need, and also should be one of the few experienced players we keep, along with Clint, Derry, and SWP if he maiantains his speed after his operation.
The thing Oslo at that rate we're keeping everyone - Cisse - he'll be great in the NPC. Lets give him another chance Barton - everyone's favourite t***** but he'll be great in the NPC. Lets give him another chance SWP - 1 goal in 2 seasons but he'll be great in the NPC. Lets give him another chance Bosingwa - Heartless mercenary but he'll be great in the NPC. Lets give him another chance etc etc etc Reality is that Bosingwa earns too much, had an 'injury' and has been ***** plus has no heart for the club. If ever a player needed flogging its him We can't keep them all
I hope Granero stays. I've always felt he was a good player in the wrong team. You can't pass to people who don't get into positions to receive the ball. N
This is what we need. Optimism! Positivity! We must escape the captivity of negativity if we are to succeed. Wipe this season from your memories and onwards and upwards next season. We will rise again!!!!
Wubba, I know we cannot keep them all, I posted earlier on this thread that the players we need to sell if we can are the old ones who are clearly past it, definetely Park and Ferdinand, probably Zamora, Johnson, Samba, Cisse, Barton, Luke Young, Cesar, and Green. That's plenty - Bosingwa, Clint, Derry and SWP (if he recovers) are all probably good enough for another year in the Championship, and we need some experienced players. I don't know that Bosingwa has no heart - Harrry should know better than anyone by now, and he's been playing him every game for months, rightly so he's been one of our best. We need new more stable younger Keepers, and younger hungry strikers.
