But we are 7 points ahead of Wigan with a much better goal difference. If they don't win one of WBA and Arsenal, they can only get a maximum of 7 points (and that's if they draw with one of WBA and Arsenal). <doh>

They have 4 left to play? If they beat Swansea they will only be 4 points behind us with 3 left?

Ok but what I'm saying is that if they don't get a win out of either WBA away or Arsenal away, well they could actually get 8 points so we'd be 99% safe. But they will lose at Arsenal who need the points and West Brom away is very difficult as well.

For Wigan to survive, they almost certainly need to beat Villa (as well as win other games!). If they do that, they keep Villa down there - unless Villa have already Norwich. But by doing that, Villa will have kept Norwich down there - who also have an away trip vs City, and would therefore almost certainly only have one hope of finishing above - beating WBA at home.

And then there's Newcastle and Sunderland thrown in too. You know, the two sides who have each conceded six goals in the last 30 hours.

I got odds of 150/1 for a reason! Most bookies weren't even bothering to still put odds up for us.

Although those odds have now been slashed to a 80/1, follow tonight's result. Still massive though!!

If Wigan lose or draw to WBA then it is over, they won't get anything at the Emirates. If they beat WBA then my arse will start twitching!

I'm saving my worry for this scenario. Been saying for a while that the cut off will be 38/9 points. I hope I am wrong & Wigan fall flat on their arse!

Hey Ses's red, reckon they will get that over turned? I hope not. Although, seemed harsh to me.

Good chance I reckon, I'm sure they will at least give it a go, the extra match ban he would get for putting in an unsuccessful appeal wouldn't be in this season anyway.

Agreed, worth the risk. But, that Olivia Giroud (that's not a little girl, its a badly spelt footballers name!) will feel mighty pissed off if they recind it!

For anyone that hasn't seen it or wants another look:-

For me it's not a red. He leveled his studs out and foot wasn't particularly high. The only thing that might not go in his favour is that he seemed to be looking where he planted his foot. Also if there is any kind of debate to be had over it don't they tend to side with the ref?

    West Brom v Wigan
    Wigan v Swansea
    Man City v Wigan(fa cup)
    Arsenal v Wigan
    Wigan v Aston Villa

Even if we lose the next 3 Wigan still need to get 8 points from those 4 games. In the mean time all the other teams below us would need to go by us as well. The cup final will wear them out also.

Wigan are quite capable of getting 3 wins from Swansea, west brom and villa, anyone who thinks they can't is deluding themselves.

Villa could well be above us come sat.

    Newcastle have qpr to play.

Sunderland have 2 home games left against us and stoke.

That leaves Norwich, if they lose to villa they will need to beat wba. Tough, but would you like to bet against it?

If Wigan and villa win sat and we lose, we are right back in it. If one loses , then we should be ok with 39 because they can't both win on last day, so would need to beat Chelsea and arsenal respectively.

You rotten bunch of bastards. I was just enjoying my morning croissant when this thread got me doing the predictor and we're doomed. Doomed I tell you. And i thought we were all right. Now weeping into my coffee. I hate you all.

I should add, that I did have us losing 12-0 at Spurs and Wigan snatching a 7-0 win at Albion, but hey.
