Top post^^^^^ Could be much worse! in the last 4 games we played teams who are desperate for points! 2, for CL spots and 2, in a relegation battle! We have improved on last season! thats more than expected from a team suffering from having their top players and manager move on!
cheers Swan, that's another good point I missed: ML had to rebuild after several loan signings had gone, several players sold and a change of manager. A massive task that most managers would have struggled with. ML didn't - he brought home the bacon! *insert danish related bacon joke here*
No but this is a tough 8 games, with all top 5 clubs to play and 3 fighting a relegation battle! Never gonna b easy
clear out for me - moore, schecter, dyer, hernandez, monk, williams, jdz, buy early and rebulid quickly, and ki is looking a waste of rations
Have to disagree a bit with this.... Keep Moore, Dyer, Hernandez, Williams and DEFFO Ki. JdZ - I was quite positive about him for some time, but have to confess to losing a bit of patience, when he gets stuck in and fired up (maybe 3-4 games) he looks quality, but he's just too inconsistent with it to be worth more than £3m.... Ki will be one of our best players next season, mark my words. Not only that any money we are paying him in wages and his signing-on fee, will be dwarfed by the commercial opportunities being opened up. Absolute No-Brainer! Hernandez - I've been quite a strong critic of him, but only because he frustrates the living hell out of me, that said he's a quality player that just needs a run of good performances, or maybe a kick up the arse (and being benched for a couple of games) Moore - Is a good striker and should be playing with Michu (no point getting rid of the ONE striker we actually have on the books) - He's also English (something we may need for Europa) Dyer - needs to play his way back into form is all. Williams - Is a legend and as long as we get behind him he'll get his head back on.
Also disagree. Well for the most part Moore - has done what is needed ofhim when he has been played, other than 1 game where he was subbed at half time, have been impressed. Schecter - can go for all i care. Not impressed with him at all. Dyer - Annoyed me this season, as he seems to have that "big time charlie" attitude to him now, and think its only going to get worse now we made it into europe, but I an amazing player when on form, so am undecided. Hernandez - Unlike Routledge and Dyer, doesn't normally end up running away from his opponent, he comes to get the ball, which i think he needs to stop doing, and run past the defender and get the ball that way. The problem with Hernandez, is he seems to try too hard. And it costs him possesion, but I really dont believe we have seen the best of this guy yet, and really am looking forward to seeing him next season. Monk - Getting on, and yes should go, but not from the club, maybe coaching role, who knows. Williams - frsutration and awe, he can have some cracking games, and some piss poor games. When on song, not many id rather have in place of him, when off song, id rather have tate. JDG - Can piss off for all i care, has been woeful last few games, loses the ball, sulks, walks around the pitch, am sorry, its playing with 10 men. I like him when on form, but when off form, is as good as no man at all. KI - Now this guy I do very much rate, alot seem to forget he is being played out of his favoured position, he is an AM, not a DM, and you can see that in the way he plays, played there for Celtic, plays there for Country. So give the guy some slack, yes he needs to get into players a bit more when playing that role, but that will come as he gets used to the role. HE is great on the ball, can pass, can control, just think that he needs to be given a run in the AM role, i hate it when Laudrup brings him on in replace of someone, and pushes JDG up in AM to support Michu, as I reckon Ki is a much better suited player for that AM role, I just think Laudrup puts him in DM due to his height, to try and help in the aerial area's, ratehr than his ability to play that role. After all, JDG and Leon are tiny.
Cheers NJ, it's good to back talking football toot. Just gonna steer clear of silly arguments and enjoy reading/contributing with fellow SCFC crackpots!
Wouldn't keep hernandez if we could find someone silly enough to pay decent money for him. Forget the trying and skilled b/s he can't hit a 5 yard pass and that puts everyone else out of position and worrried about commiting. Considering Ben has had to try and partner with him, he has done miracles in his first year. Said way back when that JDG was a waste of space. I hope we can get the right signings to play people in their better roles - problem being both Michu and Ki would be brilliant behind a striker with presence
Stevejack is spot on. In particular I agree that Ki will be moved forward next season with Apsas in a more defensive role. We'll see the best of Ki next season without a doubt. Hernandez - most of us are losing patience but you don't get a Spanish cap if you ain't got talent....and he's got 4. Give him another season at least because he could come good - really good. Or it may be that the Prem just doesn't suit him. JDG - I worry about him. Terrible attitude on Sunday, though he wasn't alone. You'd never think he was playing for a contract. He was bundled off the ball far too easily for my liking too. I'd still buy him - but for nowhere near the asking price.
Steve good post, and all of what you say is noted by most, but we do need to debate this slump, otherwise it could get rather nasty, if we don't win another game before the end of the season, I can't remember such a situation since the Jacket era, when he put all his eggs in the Trundle basket, and when Trundle stopped scoring that October, we hardly won a game until January! So I'm not panicking, but this slump needs addressing ASAP, it's not about the great season, we had first half, it's about our winning mentality, and confidence, which could be badly damaged if this continues, we have seen far too often how teams fall apart, when the rot is allowed to continue, and Dai is correct when he says that Laudrup has to stop it!.....................
debate is good Phil! I was as guilty as most of blowing the Chelsea performance out of perspective and a cooler head has had me being more reflective on the whole season. recent form has been a worry and hopefully we can get points against Wigan and Fulham at least to ease our concerns. It's just the more I think about it the more obvious it is that ML has a plan for next season, maybe we could do with someone in the dressing room to give the guys a kick up the backside when the showing is poor, ML doesn't seem to be that man. A coaching addition or a strong leader joining the squad might help address this issue.
I'd like to think Chico or Michu will become that presence next year. I can see us making Michu captain, irrespective of Williams staying. Him and Chico have got real fire and desire and are both intelligent on and off the field. They just need to acclimatise to the surroundings and get fluent in English (which they aren't far off now anyway.)
I dont care who goes and who comes nothing will change playing like this.....we will not survive another season playing laudrups way whatever people think.....I wish if he was to carry on like this that he never came and Brendan was still with us playing good football and at least competing with the top boys.......he had better undo the changes he has made or there is only one direction we will be going and thats a fact.....
Dai I can't agree with that mate, you can't blame Laudrup when players in our team can't keep the ball, or pass to the opposition, that then breaks our possession game down, we have always had the philosophy that if the other team can't get the ball, they can't score, but unfortunately we have been our own worst enemy to some extent this season, those players that are not prepared to put in the shift, or raise their game and standard, simply need a spell on the bench to reflect, and De Guzman would be one that I would bench!...............
You have to blame the manager dragon as he picks the team and sets the way we play against teams...I would agree if it was one,two or even three games where he got it all wrong but 6 and possibly 7 next week is showing that he is struggling big time and if we go to the end of the season without a win then he has to go, We were improving until he changed the way we were playing and at least we were competing and looked as if we could win nearly every game even when we lost......Im all for managers improving the side but not by breaking up a winning formula..... Look at leon as a player who looks a shadow of himself on the pitch today than what he use to be......No... any other good side who were winners but cant find a win now due to the tactics of the manager would have been given his cards by now......I don't want to see that happening to him but he must forget the hype he use to get from the media and realize he is wrong now on how he is doing things and get back to how the players know how to get results....long ball and long passes and players out of position is not the way we play at Swansea as it will send us back to the lower leagues before we know it.....no one person is bigger than the club no matter who they are.....
Dai, you've made your feelings on ML known, now can you please stop with the ML bashing as it is getting very tedious and boring now
