From where we are now, performance wise it can only improve can't it? If he had had the second half of the season in the first he would have been sacked by January. The performance level and general regression that we seem to be making just makes me think that there are better managers out there, and most definitely ones who encourage occational positivity.

As for improving in the summer, I have no doubt we shall, but when he has made the team his own is he really going to change his whole approach? Its not like he has identified weaker or similaly weak teams and had a real go at them has he?

In answer to Welly, I genuinely think we would be better off with PL, he would of strengthened too and continued to get the best from the existing bunch. If he hadn't at least we would be entertained and seeing real fight.

I think some fans are being a little harsh on the players with the over performed, found out sentiments, I think a number of them are up to PL level but CH has flogged any enthuisiasm and invention out of them.

I would be very happy to look Silly if we improve, but right now I think just don't believe he is the right man to spend the money and bring that about.

One question, would you rather have?
A] A manager who has reduced us to an ineffective stoke clone (sorry stoke fans thats a little harsh) who might improve us with a pot of cash but would undoubtedly take us down with this squad next season.
B] Or a manager who might bring back attractive football, potentially reinvigorate the existing squad (maybe even without the need to spend) and probably also improve us with a pot of cash?

I realise the fergie argument of, continuity is the way forward, but CH is not AF, the league has changed and if CH continues in the current vein we'll have no comercial appeal and the gates would definitely drop. I don't believe he knows what he's doing.

I had him as my favourite to get the job last summer and really thought we were going places. Look what he had done at Newcastle and Birmingham and years of experience at Spurs coaching. Nice chap. Fitted the Norwich glove like OJ.
And I really hope you are right Dave but you can only comment on what you are watching now. And even you must admit it's bloody awful to watch. I would accept us hanging on by our fingernails if we had given it a go.
And conversely, what happens if it goes wrong next season? This season would have been a waste.

His style of play took Newcastle up with a record points haul and a record number of goals scored! You don't get either of those by parking the bus!

This is also an argument for looking at what Newcastle achieved after they got rid of him with basically the same players!

He hasn't yet got the players that he wants yet! Next season you'll see a marked difference!

I'm all for backing managers so I'm not posting this to smear the name of CH.... But to use that example is flimsy to say the least <ok>

That Newcastle side that he inherited was head and shoulders (and weists) above the rest of the division and in retrospect I think nearly any professional coach/manager would have taken them up that season such was the gulf in class that they had at their disposal...

col who mike could have taken them up with a record points tally. Also his style was very much longball to andy carroll.

It's called Ipswich and it's in the Championship section, but don't waste your time, there's nobody there!

Quite so, Dave. That's where I'd expect to go to read immature 'Who-tun' jibes and the like.

Pretty sick of it on here, I'll come back later, when maybe they'll have gone. <ok>

Because we haven't progressed apart from financial matters. On the pitch has been dire so much of the season. We now have half the supporters (Sorry GG, followers), would rather we had a change of manager if we don't get a change of style.

I was also wondering about training. We're supposedly good from dead balls, but there's no invention even there. Every ball is Snodgrass bending one into the box so a CB can flick a header towards goal. It's one way of doing things, but just that - one way. I can't remember the last time we had someone lurking with intent wide for a ball to be slipped out so they can put in a ball across the 6 yard box, or the ball being tapped along wide of the wall so Johnson can blast it, or anything else!

Not sure I agree: As often quoted, there is a long term goal and survival this season forms part of that plan. Consolidation of PL players who will be here next season and removal of the ones that lack the quality, more cash for better players = success,
