We have to hope for a sunderland win tonight simple as that. Because if we are 1 point or better above villa and wigan before the last game we cannot go down as they are playing each other on the final day. Bearing in mind villa have to play chelski and wigan have to play arsenal in their respective run in's I would say this outcome is very possible if wigan and villa lose their next game as the smart money would be on them to lose to chelski and arsenal respectively.

All rivalry aside, I hope we both stay up and whilst our form indicates we're currently the poorest side down there I do think we'll sneak a win either against West Ham or QPR. I hope you lads win tonight for the reasons mentioned in an earlier post ie I'd rather have Villa 3 points behind us and playing catch up with a young inexperienced squad than being level with them and yourselves.

We've done this to death but sorry the players are actually on the pitch and have the option to do something. Regardless who the manager is, what the situation is or anything else for that matter, the players have an overriding responsibility to put a shift in for the paying public. No excuses. There are none for managers or players, its a collective failure. They lack nuts to me. Cabaye is fairweather. He is meant to be an international footballer and captain. Where was he on Saturday? Looking for a hole in the ground to swallow his little pussy arse up.

Yeah in Europe they were putting all in, a glory game. What about the meat and drink? They are getting an easy ride in this situation for me. Its so easy in football when the going gets tough to just say "ah its all the managers fault". It grates on me no end, we're not talking about 10 yr old kids here. They need to man up.

    This.

Our lot got an easy ride imo when Bruce and MoN were sacked and they should take a massive part of the blame. However, managers set the agenda and the tone.

So forgetting that tonight's game involves our nearest and biggest rivals, what outcome do people want???

Easy one for me - it has to be a win for the Mackems. We need Wigan & AV to be as far from us as is possible. Do we really want AV to be level on points with us, only 3 goals worse GD?

Hope you don't mind guys but as a Stoke fan I want a Sunderland win here's why.
Newcastle (TRUST ME) you will beat QPR if we can any team can.. see our away record it sucks!

IF the Makem's win Villa have one heck of a run in and play Wigan last game away.

There is no way Wigan will win 3 games out of 4 (cup final not counted) in that run of games. All to be played in 23/25 days I think?

YOU will stay up both Villa and Wigan have too much to do.. IF Villa lose tonight it's a 2 horse race IMO.

Mackem win all day long. We've already been fcked by them, so we now need favours. Situation doesn't allow for any other outcome.

    Sunderland win of course.

**** local pride, it would be far more embarrassing to lose our premier league status than to finish below them

Sunderland win is the best we can hope for in the current state...I cant believe I have just said that, makes me even more mad with this season that it has come to wishing the Makems do us a favour :embarrassed:

The arrival of PDC and new bounce etc etc has made it difficult for me to predict how we will play and the result tonight. I did not think we would beat You or Everton...so I was wrong. PDC is trying to wind the players up for tonight saying it is a CL final etc.

Villa are good going forward and bad at defending. We have Graham whom is good at leading the line but has not scored yet, (you have Cisse who is good at scoring but poor at leading the line), if we had Fletcher I would be more confident of a result tonight.

Yes of course most of the time you naturally want us to get beaten, but tonight we do you and ourselves a favour if we beat Vile.

Form aside, I think the fact Sunderland will still be level on points with us after a defeat speaks volumes.

We have a **** goal difference now and we have no momentum at all, but any Mackem can't deny that they'd be nervous if they lose tonight.

Because we are clearly unable to take this fight into our own hands, I think we need a Sunderland win tonight, or a draw. If Villa lose tonight then the last game V Wigan will decide their fate IMO.

I see us picking up either 1 or 3 points in the next 2 games. I see us getting to the last day a point or so clear of any danger and Wigan needing a massive win to leapfrog Villa.

    Villa home win.

If we can't collect enough points to stay up, that's our own fault.

Sunderland to lose every game from now until the end of their rancid club. <ok>

    Not even close.

Banter with the Mackems is fun. Finishing several places below them will (I think the future, rather than the conditional, tense is appropriate) be galling.

But staying in the Prem is important. I want every team that plays Villa or Wigan from now to the end of the season to win. Then I want a progressive summer of acquisition and somebody who is smarter than I am to figure what's gone wrong with a pretty damn decent side, and fix it.

Stuffing the Mackems can wait till next year

This for me. I don't care about more teams being involved if Villa win, as that means we are even deeper in the crap ourselves.

I'd be more than happy to see Villa go down. Failing that Wigan.

Therefore, if everybody beats them both and they have to slug it out on the last day, then that would be perfect for me. <ok>

We have a great record against stoke at home, and I believe we will not lose again this season, because Di canio has forged this team every where on the pitch.

Sunderland win tonight - Bragging rights don't matter now. Survival is more important.
