That was shocking and very disappointing, if by some miracle we manage to get a win against Cardiff or Leeds beat Watford and we go up, serious changes to the team will have to be made because playing like we did today, we will be down by Christmas. If we end up in the playoffs we won't go up, there is no passion, no pride in the team I saw today. We have been lucky and somehow if we do go up I don't think we deserve it.
Nothing to do with pride or passion. Every player on that pitch would give anything to get to the Premier League. It's probably a combination of nerves and fatigue making us struggle.
watched it on TV, players looked knackered, no verve & no goals in 3 games.. I'm afraid we're hoping for a draw & hope Leeds draw with Watford.. You never give up, but something needs to change dramatically next week
Having watched Leicester last night who somehow finished in seventh I don't think we deserved to finish above them based on talent and effort.
Not hear to gloat at all, but we at Watford are genuinely surprised we've still got a chance of the automatics. There's now a real feeling of belief and momentum gained from recent matches. Watford now have a nothing to lose mentality, as we know we've been given an unlikely life line. Next weeknd is going to be very exciting for both sets of fans, and I have to say may the best team win.
You guys are over-reacting - I understand why - but the season is 46 games and it is still in your hands- if you beat Cardiff you are up. After 45 games you are 2nd - not 3rd as we are. You have a good side and a good manager but the nerves are jangling - Barnsley are a crazy team who beat the top sides and lose to others. I know you would have liked to have sewn it up before next week but some of your fans WANTED it to go to the wire. Don't turn on your team - they and your manager are good. Hopefully you and we will be in the Prem next year
Some buffoons on this thread. We are the second best team in this division. FACT. No luck or travesty involved. We seem to have some kind of confidence/composure issue ate the moment, which manifests itself as nervousness/ excessive caution. Need a dressing room Phil Brown teamtalk to get the focus back.
I don't think we have any other option but to turn up next week and be positive (again i know) but what else can we do as i keep saying its a one off game with a full house anything can happen
Well I just hope if we don't go up we don't get people turning on the team at the final whistle. It has been a great season and 2nd or 3rd would have seemed impossible at the start. That said it is going to be very very hard to watch Cardiff celebrate knowing we could have been celebrating with them. Thats the galling thing that keep coming back to me, that we just blew it. I think for me the best way to approach next week is just to think we had a good season and now we are in the play offs. I can't handle it any other way. I have spent the last 3 games thinking we will clinch it just to be very disappointed. I just want to feel good about something at the end of the game so I will not think about it turning out right.
Having been watching Hull City for nearly 50 seasons one thing i know is ANYTHING can Happen We have it in our own hands... Theres no reason why the team wont bounce back and play some great football against cardiff and beat them 5-2. Sometimes when you THINK things wont go right.....The do. I would rather be in our position then ANY other teams in the championship apart from Cardiff City"s AND whose to say we cant win the play offs....IF need be. i refuse to give up , give in , sulk or thinK negative thoughts while we have a chance of promotion. COME ON CITY YOU CAN DO IT....
Having seen our last few performances, I haven't seen anything to suggest we can get a result. 1 point in 9 against three of the worst teams in this league is ****ing shocking. The players have all been talking the talk, but they haven't been walking the walk. The prospect of a season in the premier league as a minimum should spur them on, but they have all decided to freeze in front of the headlights like rabbits.
I believe we can and will do it next week.. I'd say we should go 442 though, allows Brady/Quinn and Elmo to concentrate on going forward and leave the defending to the full backs.
Good post. Agreed with ^^^ this. The problem is Leo we have many knee jerk, hissy fitters who dont have a clue. Barnsley were in the last chance saloon on saturday we were not. We now enter that saloon on saturday. The Hull City fans in attendance(5909) were as bad as the teams performance in the main. 1200 made more noise at Ipswich in fact. I would question the passion and pride in many fans now. In saying that, Cardiff are now all done and dusted and they are ready for the beach. We just need to show the same passion as Barnsley and go after them. Cardiff wont want to know and why should they ? As for Cardiffs form they have struggled to get over the line as well. There last 12 games have seen W3 D7 L2. Not great form for a team who have won the league. Pressure what pressure ? Pressure is when you cannot pay bills ffs. The Hull players know whats needed. Do or Die time.
A goal going in your net after 3 minutes in the biggest game of your season is surely going to shut any fan up?
Confidence is a funny thing. If you look at a problem with the thought of what can be lost, you are taken by surprise when you have a win. If you have a problem and think you only have 5 minutes to get it sorted, it may well take you forever to work it out. If you think you have forever then sometimes you only need 5 minutes to get it sorted. It is a mistake to think how the team will perform next season when this season is not yet completed. The future is the future and it will arrive whether or not we worry about it arriving. If your child does the best it can but does not get the outcome you want do you disown it? If you do what does that make the parent? It is not over until it is over and if the race is won by another then they deserve applause. If Hull City win on Saturday it will because of their own efforts, on the day, over the season, through the highs and the lows. Do not criticize their efforts as a refection on the lives we are leading. Cheer them on. Give them hope. Let them know that they are Hull City, not just a bunch of blokes laying in a black and amber shirt.
it may just be one of those things that against the bottom clubs we do worse than against the top teams. Can the city take the nerves of another must-win game, although if we and Watford both draw our games that would be good enough for me - but then we would get the glass half empty with a crack plus unwashed lipstick on the rim mentality fans. We haven't suddenly become a side with players not good enough to avoid relegation from the football league - we have got quality players who hopefully realise come kick off at the weekend that they have to fight for every ball, every tackle, try every half-chance shot even try to win any penalities that might be given by whoever is referee (I can't be the only one who would be happy with a highly dodgy penalty if it wins us the match)
