Jackett: QPR loan striker still with Millwall but unlikely to play again

KENNY Jackett has confirmed Rob Hulse remains at Millwall on loan, although the Lions boss pointed out it is unlikely the QPR striker will play for the club again.

Hulse was booed off by some Millwall fans when jacket replaced him in Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Blackburn and it was reported yesterday he had returned to Loftus Road early because of the hostile reception.

But Jackett this evening revealed the forward is still technically a Millwall loan player and could still feature against Crystal Palace or Derby if required, a scenario the manager admitted was “unlikely”.






“I wouldn’t say he isn’t any longer with the club,” said Jackett.

“I decided not to pick him today and put him in the 18.

“I still do think that was the right thing.

“He is under contract to us for the next eight days anyway and if called upon will play.

“I would say though if people stay fit is is unlikely that he will play, but he hasn’t gone back to QPR.# “He is fit and available for us but not selected today.

“If you are asking me over the next week (if he will play) I would say it is unlikely but he is available if needed.”

Jackett added: “I think in terms of going forward I thought that really it was time to go with other strikers.

“I’ve been pleased with what Rob has done with us.

“He has earned us points, he has been in teams that have earned us points since he has been here on loan and he has been in teams that have got us through rounds of the cup as well.

“He has perhaps not scored or converted some of the chances that he has had but his presence and his experience has been there and he has been in there when we’ve had vital wins, vital draws and vital rounds of the cup.

“I thank him for what he has done and at the moment anyway look for fresh combinations up front.

“He does understand the decision and agrees with it.”
