I have to say this season for me Mackie has really stood out. He very rarely ever gives up. Even today he came on for those few lousy minutes and its just like he makes an impact. For me he has been my favourite this season, not by his standard of football all season but by the fact you know he is playing for the team and for the fans. Ive heard before that he is usualy one of the last to leave the field applauding fans. Another one would probably be Shaun Derry for me in relation to playing for the team and fans.

Sorry if there is another thread like this somewhere only new to this :)

    Welcome to the board Aimee.

Good to have a new R here who happens to be female and who is also Irish.

    Great to have you.

Sorry, but I can't agree that Mackie has been our most influential player this season. Yes, he never gives up and he deserves praise for that but he lacks quality. Three players from our Championship days deserve praise for trying really hard, Mackie, Hill and Taarabt.

Good to have you on here Aims.

Welcome aboard Amy but sorry, the only player who's influenced anything useful this term was Ryan Nelsen. We were getting somewhere with him around. Shame he departed when he did.

Of course Townsend and to a lesser extent Remy have had a degree of influence on games but hasn't done us much good though.

Welcome Amy. You will make a lot of friends on here I'm sure!

If half the players showed the same commitment as Mackie we wouldn't be where we are and he has to be admired for that. Very limited technically though.

Welcome Amy...it is great to have another girlie here and an Irish lass too. Those Irish RRRs will be desperate for a meetup. And Swords a friend already....

Unfortunately, you have slightly missed the party.....it appear we got relegated yesterday....so you missed alll the fun of us being all happy and jolly. We are now miserable and grumpy. Bad timing!!

Mackie has not had enough ball-time to be influential, and other than looking keen and running around a lot and shouting has done nothing.

Clint has tried to lead from the front, and even though he is only a Championship player of an older age, he seems to one of the consistent names on the team sheet for both Sparky and Harry. He has tried...he has played with his heart and soul. If only the other 10 had done the same.

    Welcome, Amy!

What I couldn't work out yesterday was that Mackie didn't get on until the 87th minute.

I agree with the guys above that his skill level isn't as high as others in the team, and that he's maybe not been our most influential player, but yesterday was crying out for someone to get at their defence, run and run and run, to give them something to worry about. Because let's face it, pretty much everyone on both sides looked as if the effort of getting up speed just wasn't worth it any more.

If Mackie had a little more guile about him, or if any of the other players had his commitment and workrate, things may have ended up differently. Still, no point crying now - we've been down for weeks, the only difference yesterday made was that it's now mathematically sorted as well. Time to look forward to the summer, and start the anticipation of a new season to come....

Apologies if I'm a cynic but a 22 yr old girl / woman whose loves are footie and WWE and whose only mate is the banned Swords Hoopster??

You've all assumed this is a female but I looked at the photo and simply thought of it as on the wish list of the (male) poster.

Sincere apologies 'Aims' if I am wrong.

I don't know Beth but I hope I am wrong as it would be pleasant to have more female contributors. After all, there is no shortage of girls / ladies at matches.

Amy, are you that bird that lives in Finglas who has a season ticket?

(Fingi, if you think Taarabt is one of only a couple of players that deserves praise for really trying hard, would you mind telling me how - despite all that trying - he manages to be about two stone overweight? Are you winding me up here mate?)

Swords, are you getting Aimee mixed up with Sharon. She is from Cavan but works in the Finglas/Blanch area. Is that her?

Unfortunately Swords, I have tried having reasonable debates with you and others on Taarabt and they don't tend to end favourably so I am giving your debate a miss, I'm afraid.

RTID - Aims is definitely female. She is a member of the Irish R's (superhoops) facebook page and I think I have met her personally. Travelling over to the City away game last year Aims. Was that you with your family???

Maybe so mate. There used to be a girl on IQPR.org who called herself Rachel and she was a season-ticket holder in Finglas. She goes over with her father apparently.

Would that be the girl you know?

Swords, I never really got involved in iqpr apart from I know some of the lads from there. I never met anybody called Rachel in all my travels to and from the matches. There is only one female season ticket holder in Ireland that I know and that's Sharon. She is a top class lady and a fantastic supporter. You think my dedication is good, this girl puts me to shame.

There were a few other ST holders here a few years back in the middle of the Celtic Tiger but as the economy has gone by the wayside, so have the numbers of ST holders. Who's next??? Yes, me. This is my last year unfortunately. The costs are simply getting too high and this season has just made me angry. I love my trips over and I love meeting people from this board for a social chat but heck, the flight costs for two of us are just astronomical. I don't drink (only before a QPR game to calm the nerves), don't smoke, don't gamble, don't do drugs but the costs for two of us every home game have become too much for the enjoyment I get in return. I guess QPR this year has cost me best part of 10K euros. So, next year I will be a member and will go to about half a dozen matches. The only other alternative is to move back to London. Anybody know of any jobs going??? So, next year I will become a fan rather than a supporter.

That's a shame mate, but totally understandable. Your journeys back home following a game must of been frustrating after witnessing some of the effortless rubbish on show. If only the players had applied themselves as much as you did. I'll look forward to meeting up with you for a game next season.
