So, I'm just wondering why Pardew seems to enjoy Sissoko playing out wide?

He can't cross for crap, his pace doesn't really do much damage on the wing. His best moment was when he made a run from a deep position, and we almost picked him out and he almost got in on goal.

    My formation for WHU -

    Gouff--------Cisse-------Ben Arfa-

    -----------Cabaye-------------

    ------Perch-------Sissoko-------

    Haidara----Colo---Saylor---Simpson

    --------------Elliot---------------

We need to attack WHU. Sitting back is just what they want us to do so they can bombard us with long balls to Carroll.

Steven Taylor needs to stay in as he's the only one that could really challenge Carroll. Colo should come back into the side because we need to get back to being organised for the last few games.

Perch and Sissoko further back, but Perch lying deep, and Sissoko bombing forward. Cabaye behind the 3 attackers.

They have no pace at the back, so we need to exploit that. We should play 3 pacey forwards. We better not ****ing play long balls, and Shola better not get onto the pitch.

Most of their team is over 6ft, so playing it in the air is useless.

This, Pardew, is a side that you can play a high line against. In fact it's a must. Sitting deep will do us no favours.

    Agreed?

Pretty much agree with all of this. Its been clear for a few games that Sissoko and Cabaye need to switch.

I actually think that Sissoko just isn't the player we hoped he'd be.

I mean for sure his confidence is low, he's being played out of position etc but his touch isn't great and he doesn't have a natural footballing brain like Cabaye. He should be a DM (as stated by Tash) with his objective purely to win the ball back and give it simple.

Just because he has all the physical attributes that Yaya Toure has Pardew keeps playing him in advanced positions, the problem being Sissoko doesn't have the footballing ability of Toure. He doesn't have the ability to run with his head up and pick a pass, once he's on the bal and running he's a bit of a headless chicken at times.

I'd play Anita instead of Perch, purely because we need to keep the ball in this game and take the sting out of it. Anita is very good at keeping possession, he may rarely play a killer pass but he also rarely gives the ball away.

Sissoko is inconsistent which is why the big clubs did not follow through with their interest. He was dubbed the new Essien but did not live up to that expectation.

I disagree. When he first started playing here, he seemed to have more freedom to roam up and down the pitch. Recently, he's been stuck up behind a striker or on the wing.

It's not as if he's only been effective vs Chelsea. He's gotten a few goals and assists also.

Pretty much agree with that Tash. Looks about our best Line up with who is available. <ok>
    Tiote just looks a liability.

IF Colo still isn't ready, then (and I can't believe I'm even considering this), I might even be inclined to throw in Willo instead on MYM, to help cope with big Andy.

Sissoko has been out of position for most of his time here. He tries to make up for it by running all over. Cayabe should be behind the forwards. We know it, the players know but the master tactician in charge thinks otherwise. Hence why we look abysmal.

Sissoko should play best as a box-to-box central midfielder......... I can't believe why this is so hard to figure out.

Has any of you guys ever seen a number 10 who's as AWKWARD with the ball as he is?

Granted he does have adequate ball skills but that in NO WAY means he should play as a number 10, or a winger, or anywhere other than in central midfield for that matter. The dude just is unable to dribble the ball while attempting to find the perfect through ball at the same time. Once defenders start backing off of him the only thing he'll do is he'll misplace a pass to Cisse or run himself into the brick walls that are the defenders.

Just STOP this Pardew. He had an awesome first game when nobody knew how to play him against Chelsea, and has sucked ever since. Admit you were wrong and play him where he should thrive.

And Sissoko obviously can tackle well.

He played there on Saturday though and I forgot he was on the pitch. Cabaye is a fairweather player for me but you have to pick him in the hope he can provide the ammo. Having Benni back is a big bonus and should allow us to drop Sissoko deeper. I agree with Tash bar I'd play Anita ahead of Perch because he showed real fighting spirit to come out of that bad spell earlier in the season, and we lacked character at the weekend.
