Everywhere I go at the minute I see a pair of shoes, laces tied together dangling off a telephone wire. Is this a.new.craze or something? How does it work, do you nick someone's adidas and let em walk home barefoot or do you just get your old diadoras for.the job? Do you get called a **** if you don't get it over the telephone wire first go? What time of day does this take.place an all? I've never seen shoe lobbing, have you? I need answers!
It's a drug related thing. If there's some near your house then you've got a crack/heroine dealer in your neighbourhood.
Lesta is spot on. It's a sign to the druggies that the dealers are about and have fresh supplies FACT.
Could actually be to do with drugs, never thought about that , drug central area of Leicester has shoes everywhere on phone lines. You don't use your own though, you mug some poor chap who happens to be on his own and throw his up there.
After researching this, I have concluded that they are there to increase visibility for low flying aircraft and to frighten snakes away. Although my mate who lives in drug infested bit of Leicester reckons they're a sign marking out a gangs turf. I think he's in cuckoo land, he's wrong, I'm right.
Urban myth I'm afraid. Heroin users know where to go to get drugs and drug dealers go to drug users a lot too. The last thing a drug dealer would want is visibility. Heroine dealer? Giving out Scarlett O'Hara's or Joan of Arcs??
Good.point. come to think of it I haven't seen any low flying aircraft or snakes. Hmmm, the dealers tell the fuzz that they've run out of drugs and police ring the phone company to.remove the shoes?
Nah.The police patrol the known areas. The police spot the shoes. The police call KC. KC remove them. Simples.
ok, I'll buy the drug dealer thing. He's about to get new supplies, so throws the shoes. He ten gets the supply and sells out and won't get any more for six weeks. How does he get the shoes down to stop confusing his clients? Knock knock. "now then mate, got any blow?", "Nah, sold out. Won't have any more for six weeks." "then why are the shoes outside?" "can't get them down". And, if we, on a not 606 forum can find this out, surely the filth can too? Wouldn't that just be an advert for coppers as to where to focus their investigations?
The shoes are a loss leader i.e a non profitable investment. The drugs are "first come first served". The coppers know where the gear is, they just don't know when. The "clients" are confused anyway.
Going on this theory, it would be in the police's interests to leave them up. That way when the dealer was out of stuff it's still sending the message that they've got some, and then you're looking at it being an unreliable system.
Daughter at Leeds Uni - told me that it is drug dealing - although the main 'source' for students in Leeds is from Ice Cream Vans ...
Has anyone actually tried to do this? It can't be easy. It must take a good few goes and would have to be done in broad daylight. A skagged up Skeletor looking mother ****er repeatedly throwing a pair of green flash in the air is likely to court a bit of attention I reckon. You wouldn't have seen Pablo Escobar chucking his sannies at phone wires in Medellin back in the day. Get to ****. Just bored yoof with shag all else to do me thinks.
