I suppose the only downside is with FFP coming in then our transfer budget will be severely reduced. Hopefully Mick will have got us into the Prem by then though so shouldn't be a problem! Even if we aren't, then personally I think we would benefit much more from producing our own talent than spending that money on transfers

If I'm not mistaken, money spent on things like the Academy and training ground facilities comes outside the FFP budget anyway.

Yep, it excludes:

• Investment in Youth Development (as defined in the Elite Player Performance Plan)
• The profit affecting element of the purchase, sale and depreciation of fixed assets excluding players (e.g. a club's stadium)
• Investment in a club's Community Scheme
• Promotion related bonus payments

A club is also entitled to apply to the Financial Fair Play Panel to have certain exceptional items excluded from the Financial Fair Play Result in a particular year. Such as (but not limited to):

• Career ending injury costs
• Bad debts from other clubs
• Losses sustained from a major sponsor defaulting

Great news and it seems really the club have probably done the right thing getting the academy up to Cat 2 status first then going for Cat 1!!

Good signs coming out of town atm, all we need now is a team who on the whole are our own!!

This could be a crafty one from Marcus to get one over on FFP, I presume at the moment some if not all of the academy is funded through the club, Well if a owner can put as much money as they like towards an academy, why not he fully supports that and put less in the transfer pot. But the transfer pot is then made up of the money that the club would have spent on the academy.

Strictly speaking that is all above board.

Hopefully Mick will have got us into the Prem - just looked in the OED for the definition of optimism and co-incidently found this.

Your transfer budget severely reduced? How can it be reduced? Are you planning on asking other clubs to pay you to take their players?

Love the optimism that getting into the top half of the Championship brings mind you wait until you see the euphoria on our board next time we win a match. Hughton will have gone from the worst manager in history to the genius who kept us up.

With the players we already have Mick would have us finishing 4th in the table had he been here all season. No need for us to spend big this summer, the team only needs tweaking. Besides, we have a much better chance of going up than you do of staying there <ok>
