Live commentary on bbc 94.9: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbclondon It's the final game of the season in league1, and 2nd place Doncaster are facing 3rd place Brentford, with 2 points separating them. I actually hope Brentford pull this off! If they win, we'll have another couple of meaningful fixtures next season. Aren't we to them what Chelsea are to us? There should be a few spicy games in the NPC next season, i'm actually quite looking forward to it!
The penalty hit the bar, and Doncaster broke to score at the other end... Dramatic stuff. I notice that Robbie Savage has suspicions that the penalty may have gone over the line. This must be crushing. With Brentford's confidence shattered, maybe they're unlikely to go up via the playoffs now either
So Donny win the league by scoring a goal without a goalie in net, that must be gutting for Bournemouth. Id be very surprised to see Brentford go up now. Teams that just fall short on auto hardly ever go up in the playoffs. Just read that the guy who took was pulled a Taarabt as he wasnt the nominated penalty taker.
No, from what I gather, he was up field possibly for a corner after the pen. It was a Fulham loanee who missed it.
The Brentford goalie was in the goalmouth. The ball broke to the Donny right midfielder. Another Donny made a sprint up the middle of the pitch leaving them two on one with the keeper. Keeper came out, player 1 squares it to player 2.... Open net. Goodnight Gracie.
I don't dislike Brentford at all but if they go up they will have two cup finals against us which I can't see many of our current squad being very up for. Would rather they stayed down.
As most Brentford fans I know hate us with vigour and have laughed many times at our plight, I can only get a feeling of joy
I anted Brentford to go up, after not liking them in the 90s when they were bigger and better than us, it as our cup final playing them(how things have changed) and they still hate ffc, so what a kick in the teeth that one of ours misses that spot kick, he was not going to take but rossler gave instructions, lets hope they win the play offs
I certainly see that Chelsea will consider Barca and Juve their rivals now, but you don't have to be too old to remember in the 70s,80s and 90s when our team was more than a match for them season after season. You'd have to remember Macmillan as prime minster to recall regular meetings with Brentford - so I'm at a loss to see why any hatred has managed to build up. As FT says they used to hate Fulham with a passion. Wasn't their fanzine called Flush over Fulham, meaning planes on the Heathrow flight path? I recall a Fulham fan saying that if you flushed over Fulham the speed and height of the aircraft would cause the effluent to land some where around... Brentford.
I have an elephant's memory when it comes to remembering the rivalry with the Bees. The way their fans behaved towards Martin Rowlands when he was snapped up by Olly for peanuts. So I will not be shedding too may tears for them. I feel for the lad who took the penalty. At least he had the bottle to go for it and blasting it as hard as you can is probably as good a way to get over the nerves as any. Why did O'Connor not step up? Now if Rosler can get them to bounce back from that experience and actually get them up this season or next, perhaps we can consider him for our next managerial reshuffle. Brentford fans can pelt him with coins as well then.
