QPR boss Harry Redknapp has handed a Loftus Road lifeline to five of his loaned-out players - although he admits Joey Barton is likely to prolong his stay in France. Barton, Anton Ferdinand, Djibril Cisse and Alejandro Faurlin are all on loan abroad, while striker Rob Hulse is currently at Millwall. Redknapp expects to reorganise his squad this summer ahead of a likely return to the Championship, and he says the likes of Faurlin and Cisse still have futures at QPR if they want one. When asked about their futures, he said: "They are not involved, they are playing in different countries, but we will see what happens when they come back. "Joey Barton has done very well at Marseille. He's a good player, but it's lovely playing over there in the mountains so I don't know if he'll want to come back."
Where was this from then KIWI, it is slightly strange... all these players are under contract and their loan deals will end so they will have to come back unless they are sold or new loans are agreed, hardly handing them a lifeline is it? The loan rules are pretty complicated i think, but and i am probably wrong but i thought 12 months was the max you could loan a player out for to one club and then they have to return to the own club. Hulse I think is out of contract at the end of the season so his 'Loftus road lifeline' should entail being brought back to the club then told to **** off. Barton has been on loan most of the season I am not sure the rules permit this to continue for another season - does anyone know?
What I read from this is that these players were sent out on loan because they were a) surplus to requirements, and b) not in demand for permanent transfers. Life in the NPC is a different matter, and personally I can see the likes of Cisse, Johnson, Faurlin, and (though it pains me to say it) Barton doing a seriously good job for us at that level. What Harry is saying is that despite the fact that they were all sent away, when they come back there's a job of work for them to apply themselves to, and he's going to give them the chance to do that job if they apply themselves.
"They are not involved, they are playing in different countries, but we will see what happens when they come back." Hardly a lifeline.
I have always liked Ali, but I think us fans think he is far better than he actually is. Maybe his injury is a the cause but Harry doesn't seem to rate him and he can't get into a team near the bottom of Seria A
Maybe you're right, but I think the guy is good enough to look a cut above in the league below. Warnock said he was the best player he'd ever had at that level or something to that effect and that he just doesn't have the pace for the Prem, which I disagree with personally.
Its a strange one alright, I remember reading a quote from Barton saying he was surprised how good Ali was. I just don't understand why Harry got rid so quick and why he is not getting a look in at this current team. Hopefully he will be back to his best next season.
From my perspective we need players next year having the ability playing one year later also PL niveau and who aren't injured. Can't see this with Faurlin, Zamora, Taraabt, Johnson and others.
Faurlin (like Park and Diakite) seem to have suffered from ... err ...problems of the mind at some stage this year. Who knows, next year he/they might have everything sorted ... but maybe not.
I know quite a few Millwall fans and Hulse is as popular at Millwall as he is at Loftus Road, he was given serious stick when subbed on Tuesday...
The problem with long-term injuries is that players do not always come back as good as they were. I saw him twice last season and he played very well in both games. Most of you saw more of him and have commented that he is very slow. That may have something to do with his fitness levels. I hope so. If that is right, a half season playing in Italy will have done him a lot of good. He is clever enough to realise that he may need to put in an extra shift in the close season to regain some pace. Time will tell. But I hope that if he has lost it, people will remember that he was one of our best players in the Championship and that he was one of the few to perform consistently well during the season until his injury at MK Dons. If he has to make way for someone else, I prefer to remember the good times and will not be joining those who want to slag him off.
I suspect that Barton will be back with us next season. There's no way Marseille can afford his wages, let alone a transfer fee and the way Harry spoke about him suggests he give him a chance..
