Just been reading a post on another forum about realistic options for the summer and there is certainly exciting times to be had at SAFC as we look certain to be in the premier league for the 2013/14 season.

With talk of a director of football coming into the club it is certainly going to be interesting how we look for targets, will Paolo have majority of the say or will the director of football be the man who goes and gets us new players whatever happens I am sure the net will be cast a far and we will target good players of a good age rather than paying over the odds for home grown average plodders at the wrong end of there career.

My top 10 targets for us...

Top Target. Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspurs - LB) - Well I don't need to tell you anything about the lad as we have had him on loan since September but we have got to do all we can to get him here in the summer even if it costs us 8 or 9m the lad would be worth it! Us Sunderland fans know how hard it is to find a good left back and if we paid that amount for a 22year old who is getting better with everygame, if he is our left back for the next 5 or 6 years it would be money well spent and I am positive if he did leave in that time it would be to one of the top clubs and we would make our money back and more he is that good IMO

    2. Andreas Cornelius (FC Kopenhagen - CF) - The 20year old 6ft 4" striker has certainly broke onto the scene after a fantastic 2012/13 season after smashing 20goals in 38games for FC Kopenhagen in the Danish top flight. Already broke his duck for the national side as well after scoring his sides first goal in there 3-0 victory over Czech Republic last month.

    3. Simon Kjaer (Wolfsburg - CB) - This lad has always impressed me everytime I have seen him play for club or country the 24year old would walk into our backline and be a breath of fresh air, he may not be the quickest but he has all the other attributes, good in the air, good with the ball at his fee and a solid defender. The lad is currently back at bottom half side Wolfsburg after a year on loan at AS Roma.

    4. Diermerci M'Bokani (Anderlecht - CF) - The first time I noticed this lad was about 5 maybe 6years ago when he played for Standard Liege against Everton in the Europa League. My dads side are big Evertonians so I was at Goodison that night and this lad reminded me of a Kenwyne Jones with workrate and who also could strike a football. Since then the lad has had a couple of moves but has certainly improved at Anderlecht with 15goals last season and on 19 so far this season the lad would fit perfectly into our side.

    5. Marvin Martin (Lille - CM/AM) - I really rate this lad and he would be a dream in our midfield. There is players who you would worry about not adapting but not this lad I think he would hit the ground running, the lad has it all, vision, creativity, good passing range and chips in with the odd goal. The first time I seen him was for the France national side and he impressed me as he always looked to create something from a central midfield position which is one of a number of positions he can play in.

    6. Kyle Naughton (Tottenham Hotspurs - RB) - After a tough start to his Tottenham career after numerous loan deals the lad has been incorporated into the first team squad this season at white hart lane playing in either full back position at times due to injuries and suspensions and from what I have seen of him I think like Danny Rose his Tottenham team mate he would do a good job playing for us. The lad is 24 and has all the attributes to be a good modern day full back, he has pace, good on the ball, gets forward, solid defender and as I have already said he is at a very good age and what we could offer over Tottenham would be guaranteed first team football, this lad should be high up on our watchlist.

    7. Alessio Cerci (Torino - RW) - Seen this lad play twice this season firstly for Italy against Brazil and then for Torino against Napoli and I liked what I saw. Good technique, good skill and decent pace the lad would be a good option for us for that right hand side with AJ coming over to the left. At 25 the lad still has plenty of time on his side and god knows how Torino managed to snap him up for as little as 2.6million euros last summer.

    8. Leroy Fer (FC Twente - CM) - Would of been an Everton player if the deal had not broken down at the last hurdle in January and I have to say this lad would improve us. Fer is a big, powerful CM and once he gets in his stride with that ball there is no stopping him he is like Yaya Toure and IMO that is what we lack in the middle of the park and he has a decent record infront of goal. At 23years of age this lad is only going to get better and probably available at around 6-7m

    9. Pierre Emerick Aubermeyang (Saint Etienne - CF) - otherwise known as road runner lol the lad has electric pace and an eye for a goal and could be exactly what we need. Seen the lad play a few times and he can play as a main centre forward or in a wider position, one thing he would do is give us an extra dimension.

    10. Jores Okore (F.C. Nordsjælland - CB) - The first time I heard of this lad was in the Sunderland Echo who were reporting that we have been having him watched. I know little about the lad apart from he is 20years of age and built like a 6ft brick wall.

Cerci is a great player, he absolutely murdered Inter Milan when I watched him. Hes got bags of pace, can beat a man and put a good cross is but at the same time he finds cutting in and getting his shots away, just as easy.

Looked it up. Was a problem with his knee, Everton wanted to restructure his contract because of it or something like that but didn't work

Okore is a tank, every top club is scouting him.

He'll end up on the Chelsea reserves bench probably!

As ever poolie you come up with some players I've never even heard of however, Danny Rose is a given mate would be a great start if we can prise him away from Spurs.
Watched Kjaer (spelling) a couple of times and he looked very good reminded me of Steve Bould didn't need tobe lightning quick because he was where the ball would be before it got there.
Good shout on Kyle Naughton as well again though not sure Spurs will let us have both him and Rose unless AVB has something else lined up. As for the rest not heard of them to be fair bar that road runner kid who is very fast so why not PDC should be able to pull a few strings hopefully.
