I hope to God he's right. I'd rather lose Enrique than Barton.

Was obvious from the start it was just McKay looking for a big payday for himself. He's always been the same, get a good deal for himself, never mind the player or the players wishes.

I agree with you there, in the same situation, he would no doubt show a lot more heart than Jose. Think Jose's 100% a gonner now unfortunately but I can get over that as long as he doesn't join our red bin-dipping friends!

Joey on the otherhand, I honestly thought he would be here for the rest of his career? But maybe this saga is not over yet!:emoticon-0119-puke:

Hm id take this all with a bit of caution, willie McKay is a nasy piece of work and probably one of the best agents atound, he knows what he's doing. It looks like contract talks have come to a halt in that Joey wants 4 year contract and the club only willing to give a 3 year contract. Therefore willie is basically coming to the press, (what agents do) to try and push NUFC over the line and give Joey what he wants. Nower days this happens with alot of players,e.g. rooney, Taylor. I think that NUFC may give in and give him a 4 year deal.

But im not going to slate the club for not giving him a 4 year deal, willies going on about how much Joey loves the club, so why isnt he signing the new deal? Does Joey think that he'll not be a very good player in 3 years time therefore giving him a 4 year deal so he can still be tied down? I also understand why we are reluctant to give him more than 3, as we arent the club we used to be and we wont be able to give Barton 50K/week in 4 years time if he is on the bench. Ie Campbell.

But I still think that Barton has 3 class years ahead of him, backing that up by probably being our player of the season this year...

Don't read too much into Willie McKay's statement today, Barton will sign a new contract when McKay stops chasing another payday #nufc
