I have actually visited the pork-pie factory museum in Melton Mowbray. Very interesting, it was. But not as good as the Wilkin&Sons jam museum in Tiptree. For some strange reason, I always tend to visit these places on my own.
Did you see Pud while you were there? He might have been given the sack by then, he used to be the official taster there, and lets just say he was fond of taking his work home with him.
Have you visited the jam factory up near Dundee? My mum came back recently with a jar of whisky marmalade. No tried it yet. Am lookin for a recipe to use it in.
Something not right, when posting asking me do I want to leave page click cancel but get posted anyway
I haven't been to that factory, Gambol, but I shall look into it. The whiskey marmalade would probably be best used as a marinade on veal or venison. Leave it wrapped up overnight in tin foil, then pan-fry for three minutes on either side. Serve up with bacon-roasted parnips and leeks. Handsome!
Whiskey vs. whisky The difference between whiskey and whisky is simple but important: Whisky usually denotes Scotch whisky and Scotch-inspired beverages, and whiskey denotes the Irish and American beverages. The word itself (both spellings) is of Celtic origin, and modern whisky/whiskey distillation practices originated in Ireland and Scotland. Using whiskey to refer to Scotch whisky can get you in big trouble in Scotland. . http://grammarist.com/usage/whiskey-whisky/
Well spotted, ST. I left that error hanging to see who has the eagle-eye. You win, my friend. Now which of you pedantic ****s will spot my next gramatical mishap?
