Ideal (realistic) summer would be bringing in Jovetic, Isco, Capoue, CB - Williams?, Adler. Shifting Bendtner, Denilson, Squillaci, Arshavin, Chamack, Diaby. That would be a great squad and would mean we could adjust the midfield and attacking line-ups as the opposition, home or away, suspensions and injuries dictate and still have a top quality 11. It wouldn't bankrupt us, especially when the burden of the bench-warmers and loanees' wage bill are struck off. May depend on CL qualification of course but I believe this is achievable without spending ludicrous money.
How exactly are you going to get rid of diaby? He won't be back from injury till around xmas time, are you seriously expecting another club to buy him?
nah, diaby will stay till the end of his contract. then leave on a free and go play for a lower league team or retire completely. lots of those players will be difficult to sell unless they go for free due to high wages. hopefully they're near the end of their contracts. and as someone said sagna might leave. jenks is decent, but not ready to take over so a RB is necessary. i'm not jumping on the bandwagon saying we need a new GK. if we sell fabianski then yes we do, but if not then him and szczesny can fight it out. both good enough imo.
I agree with the shifting out would also include Gervinho if we can get 15mn+ for him. In: Cb : Young but talented CB such as Kyriakos Papadopoulos in the 15mn range could be our Phil Jones, if we do shift any of the CB's this summer then add one more Williams? Nah!. Would like someone better maybe Jagielka but think one of Subotic or Hummels might be a possibility seeing as Gotze has left and Lewandowski is leaving as well. DM/CM : Fellani will not be cheap 20-25mn and we also have to hope bigger clubs arent interested, otherwise Capoue, M'villa ( haven't seen them play but hear good things). WF/ST : Honestly would love a massive purchase Lewandowski, Falcao, Cavani, one of Benzema or Higauin but highly unlikely. Realistically someone like Jovetic or the like potential to be great but not there yet.
Shouldnt this thread belong to: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/180918-January-Summer-Transfer-Window-Rumours
TBF this more about what we would like to see happen as opposed to what the media is linking us to while it would work in the rumors thread it also does work on its own.
Just for the fact that it is a Suker thread not designed to **** all over Arsenal means it should be framed in gold and made a sticky for its novelty value alone
For the summer I'd like: -A new top quality striker -A new top quality winger, maybe an all round attacking midfielder, someone that can play both in the middle and out wide -A new top quality midfielder enforcer -A new top quality goalkeeper, Fabianski's done not bad since he's come back, but he's injured again, he's an injury prone GK and you can't have that, plus even though he's done good, it's only been a few games, so would prefer to buy a solid GK who we know can get the job done on a consistent basis. -An adequate 4th choice centre back, with both Djourou and Squilachi going I think, we will need a new 4th choice CB.
My previous thread was criticizing the extremely privileged people who have the honour of presiding over how Arsenal football club is run, not the club itself.
i would go for this in terms of purchases. Not going to comment on sales bcse lots of factors need to be taken into account: jovetic iker muniain benat don't think we really need a central defender bcse i think our system would leak goals irrespective. I also believe vermaelen has made more 'silly' defensive errors rather than a consequence of his positioning or incapability to tackles. For right back i would promote bellerin.
1 - Jovetic will flop in this league 2 - Muniain has been cack this season, plus we don't need anymore not a winger, not a striker types. 3 - Not sure what to make of Benat. I'd like to see us go for: A keeper, either Schwarzer as a short term option, or take a gamble on Rene Adler being able to stay fit A defensive midfielder, someone like Lars/Sven Bender or Ettiene Capoue. Capoue has improved massively since Sissoko went to Newcastle. A striker who isn't Stevan Jovetic. If Bayern are having a fire sale, i wouldn't mind Mario Mandzukic. Failing that, David Villa, Robert Lewandowski (if Bayern don't sign him) or maybe even a big money gamble on Luis Suarez.
Schwarzer would be a mistake. No doubt a good stopper, but not a box commander. We need a gobby bastid that can bully the defence around.
I've been reading a lot about Henrikh Mkhitaryan recently. Supposedly he's going to Liverpool after switching agents and demanding more money at Shakhtar. The guy scored 20 goals this season from midfield, scores for his national team and has scored in the Champs League. He's 24, looking to hit his prime and could be a cheaper option for attacking mid/winger? Oh and he speaks English already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoRJsR1rjb0 I think that's the kinda player we're in for at the moment. Like somebody above said - they have potential but haven't realised it yet. I'm not sure we can compete for players like Falcao, Cavani, hell even people like Fellaini.
1) that is subjective. He's physically not as lightweight as people think and has a great first touch. Not to mention very versatile. I feel he is capable. 2) I want muniain BECAUSE he has been poor this year. He performs well for Spanish u21 and previously been very good for Bilbao. Due to poor form there will be lack of competition for a player capable of much. Another year like the previous one and I wouldn't have considered him as wouldve been unrealistic. 3) benat isn't my first choice but if you consider my first two options I feel he's good value for money and will add much needed experience. Lewandowski is unrealistic in my book. His recent performance wouldve inflated his value beyond our financial capabilities. Would welcome David villa should we fail with jovetic though. Not convinced by madzukic though that us again very subjective I may well be wrong with both jovetic and madzukic.

Why has a goalkeeper suddenly returned to the wish list? I haven't seen a huge weakness in our goalkeeping this year. Certainly we have seen more goalkeeping errors made by goalkeepers playing against us than by our own goalkeepers. Is it that a lot of fans have already written off Fabianski and Szczeney as never being good enough? Bizarre to me that Schwarzer could be seen as an upgrade.
